Multi-tool
Afternoon.
Im after a Leatherman Multi tool, however, im stumped for which one to get.
So like one of my previous posts,
What would you guys suggest, what 'model' specifically?

My wife keeps a wave in her purse, it's a Gucci tool. All in good fun. I feel the ST's are best suited for line work, if you go on leatherman's website you will see it is listed as a heavy duty tool and I am super impressed with the -300. You need to just pick one up to understand what I mean. The cutters are suitable for everything from cutting .40 to shearing string tye and are replaceable for the first time ever. I do not like the stubby phillips on the wave or the gerber, the -300 gives you reach and torque. The lock/release mechanism has improved, easy to use and super dependable

Another question, have you had any issues getting them airside?
Once its through initially it should be fine, it'd live in my toolbox. Im just unsure whether security would not allow it through due to the sharps.
I do have a tools permit along with my airside pass, so i can take tools though.
However, i have had security make a fuss over my tin punch when i first brought that through, even with my tool permit.

Have to agree leatherman wave is spot on, but I currently have a gerber does the same job & is cheaper. What are people expecting them to do, they are a quick & easy tool to use but no substitute for a real toolbox. If you will break a gerber you'll break a leatherman

Security has been the same issue with us as well, they do not care once the tool is airside. We can get a tool pass cleared but it is a major pain. People have been known to have mgt. use an airside vehicle that can go off field, simply ship the item to your work address. Takes some creativity sometimes.

Ive gone foe the ST300, mainly because i found it on offer for £60 from £88, whilst the wave still sits at around an average of £80.
My only issue is, im travelling around airports the airline i work for, fly from, to gain experience towards my A1 license, so i have no permanent work address, yet. And a few airports are more anal about security than others.

I got the first Leatherman before they had all the model names, it broke so I got a Swisstool. Someone told me to send the Leatherman back to the manufacturer, they sent me a brand new Blast in the mail. It is much better than the original Leatherman.

Lucky you, all snuggled up inside your nice warm hangar for the winter, get out on the ramp it's the only place to be in the winter!
Its not always warm though! APU runs and dry-cycling can be done in the hangar, so the doors are open more often than not
