EASA AMEL renewal
My EASA AMEL is due for renewal soon. However, as I am currently not practicing / certifying under my EASA license, I was thinking of letting it lapse for a while, and renew it at a later date.
I remember many many years ago (under Sect "L" I think) there was a document which states that you can renew an expired license provided it has not expired more than a certain number of say 2 years. More than 2 years you need to pass certain exams, more than 5 years you have to re-sit everything again etc etc.
But I can't seem to find any similar statement with regards to renewal of expired EASA license...

I wouldn't recommend it . It may be expensive , but it will save a lot of hassle later . I would renew it every time until your are absolutely sure you don't need it anymore .

I would also bare in mind that the licensing groups are all changing at this time, so may not be the best time not to do a renewal, as arguing the changes are always easier when they are happening.
