College Project

Right folks. I need to build a Project this year in College so I need a little help.

Currently I am studying a Foundation Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering. The Project I have in mind is basically one that is already on the market. A weather station like the one below on Transair.

Complete Wireless Weather Station

I know the mentioned device is Wireless but is there any way of building a similar device to have in the Aircraft so that it can connect to a server and update the Weather Information while in flight from the Met-Office site for example?

I fly Piston Helicopters now and again here in Ireland so I wanted to build a Weather Station that I can use myself when flying instead of tuning into the Radio all the time to check the Wind.

This has already been brought to my Tutor's attention, but I thought I would pick a few brains on here aswel.

Thanks
Dave

I had the iPhone in mind but I want to build my own Weather Station display anyway and have it update the information every so often during the flight.
