Aircraft Maintenance Type Rating On Your Own

I have completed my 2 n 1/2 year aircraft maintenance engineering course which is recognized by DGCA(India). I have 6 months experience in Air India in line and shop maintenance. I also have a Radio Navigation Licence. I would like to know if it is possible to do your type rating course on your own to stand a better chance of getting a job. There is an organization called Blue Star Aviation which sends students for courses to CAE Dubai and Czech Republic where they train them for 8-9 months and also give them type rating courses and then make them study for the B1 or B2 licences also. I would like to know is there and other organizations like that that do also offer type rating courses and any other alternative that I can try out. Could you also tell me the list of organizations that offer type rating courses and the requirements to apply for it.
