Need a A320 THSA cable pre cutting tension frame

A bit of help please..

I've had to change the THSA mechanical cable rear loop (cable/chain/cable combination) and of course the available replacements are overlength and require cutting to length/fittings swaged in situ. The MRO hasn't got the pre measuring tensioner frame for this task (it's the first time we have ever had to do one). We have tried the OEM (who cannot supply one in the timeframe we need it in) and other major British 320 players, who don't have it either. A request please to anybody working in any European MRO, can you check with your stores and see if they hold this tooling. If they do, can you PM me the details of the MRO and address/contacts if possible, so I can pass it up the food chain with regards to hire of it. We have gone to the OEM with a request if any alternative proceedure is possible, but of course this will take time, if they can agree on one at all.

The tools description is DEVICE-PRE RIGGING, CONTROL CABLE and its part number is 98D27408650000. It is used on the entire A320 family and possibly on A330/40s as well. It is also used for rudder mechanical cable changes.

Many thanks..

I've never seen or heard of this job done either, just checked the Airbus spares portal and they have a lead time of 113 days

Only help I can give is to try the AOG desk at Lufthansa Tech - they usually have every tool in the book.

AOG Material Desk:
Phone +49-40-5070-5720
Fax +49-40-5070-5070
[email protected]

That's the spares desk but they should be able to check tools for you too.

I guess you've already tried BA at Glasgow?

Lufties is one option that is being looked at tomorrow.. Thanks anyway.
I spoke to a guy at another UK MRO who has used it. The cables do overstretch beyond limits with time and they have changed them because of this.
Yeah, we have tried up north..

I don't know if our lot checked this company out.. However we have found one across the pond and it is on its way to us now. Thanks fargoo, should have tried the part number out on the internet, but our tooling manager has already done that I bet!

Thanks to all who made an effort checking their respective companies..

Fargoo, Airbus lead time down to only 113 days? Good Lord, they have improved almost 100%! What a joke they are.

Was the Airbus lead time mentioned, 113 days, for the purchase of the tool or for a loan/hire of the tool?
