I haven't I'm too old now.
At a guess there may be a couple of hundred (or even more) applicants. I would imagine it will take a few weeks or more to process them all and advise those fortunate or otherwise, patience is a virtue they say.

It's Easter, airlines don't work on public holidays!
I can only give you some info when my son applied for an apprenticeship at BMW. Applied March/April, did an online assesment, around June/July got invited to 2nd assesment at dealership. Shortly after invited for Interview, then after GCSE's finished was invited to dealership for 2 day practical. Got offer subject to GCSE results at end of July. Started in September.
No idea how many applied, but there were at least 12 at the 2nd assesment. It will take time, you really have to be patient. If you can't then a call to them just enquiring as to time scales without being pushy I would suggest.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but hightower, did you get the apprenticeship in the end?, and if not how long did it take them to get back to you?
I have applied for this years intake, any info would be much appreciated. IT would stop me from checking my emails every minute like a maniac!
Regards
Alex

Alex,
My son applied last year and got in. While you're anxious you need to be patient. The 2012 application process only closed 2 days ago and last year there were 2500+ applicants. If this year's the same you can imagine it takes a little while to sort through them. I just checked and my lad got an email inviting him for an assessment on 26April, nearly 4 weeks after the original application process closed, so theres time for you yet!
Good luck

Thank you so much,
Can I ask you a few questions as you seem to know a bit about the process?
What GCSE grades did your son have? Also did he have any extra qualifications such as a national certificate in engineering?
Do you know roughly how many they take through to the second stage, which I believe is interviews or ability tests?
I appreciate you might not want to share some of this info, but if you would it would be much appreciated, as it would give an idication to their standards.
Thanks

Do you also know roughly how many applicants they take through to the second stage, which i believe is ability tests and/or interviews??
Again thank you so much for your info

Virgin Apprenticeship 2012
Hi, Came across this thread today, and I am in the same boat as alexluckham.
Flightmech, If you wouldn't mind, I too would be very keen to find out what the second stage of the process is like, just in case I do get through to the next stage, would be nice to have an idea of whats to come. You seem to be the man in the know!
Thanks!

I am hightower 1986 but forgot my details etc etc so had to create a new username, so yes I got accepted second time around. Does anyone on here know how they would live on an apprentice wage? Do you think other engineers would be willing to put us up for cheapish rent etc?
