Trouble Setting Up A Gnome Engine
Morning PPRUNERS
I have a slight issue with helping to set up a Gnome engine for running in a boat.
The boat and engine are with someone else in the states, and I am here in the UK - the person doing the work in the states is looking for a suitable HEIU, but we cannot seem to locate the P/N of it in any of the books - can anyone shed any light, its causing me some massive headaches

It`ll probably depend on whether it`s for Grumpy,Dopey or Sleepy....! or more precisely the 1000,1200,or 1400...or maybe a T58 one,at a push...,are you running it in manual control ,or Computer ? Won`t last long unless you keep it clean,if it`s in salt water....Make sure you set the IGVs correctly, and have a mechanical HPcock,if it surges....!!

Don`t know your sources but try- 37a 3402354 (sect ref), NB01004(pt no),or C44TS4(pt no). Good advice ref manual hp cock-if using manual control with anything but the gentlest touch she will surge!
Good luck

Thanks both for your pointers - found one eventually under the C44 number
As for the other bits - not my issue, I'm only supplying someone with the parts to try and kill themselves!

Gnome hung starts
Hi Guys, Im an engineer looking after 3 AB204s deployed in Firefighting roles. Problem is, the engine manual Ive been given is for a Gnome 501(?) these being 1400s. I cant find PTIT values anywhere. Can some one help? I have also experienced this hung start problem on one of our machines. From what I can gather, the electric HP cock is too slow, in the event of a surge, to adequately protect the turbines. Not being familiar with the Gnome, I guess its safe to assume that all the turbine stages will be affected, not just the PT? I know that on one of our machines, the electric HP cock is inoperative because of voltage drop on the closing circut. Ive been using the LP manual cock to shut down th Helo for now until I can solve the voltage problem. Any suggestions?
