You may get a start as a mechanic.....Your French EASA licence is worth nothing in Australia. The same as a CASA CAR31 licence is worth nothing in the EU.

GB,
Can you please explain more ?
Proven experience since more than 20 years and many licenses can not be taken as a beginner ... otherwise , what a shame.
Anyway , new company , proofs should be done again but ...
PM if you prefer.
I repeat again , i am looking for infos about JHAS.

What gas bags said is true, It's got nothing to do with your license being french, Certain Australian agencies don't recognise the EASA license in general whether british or french or whatever CAA it came from.
They are due to recognise it in the future though since CASA and EASA will close ranks but for now and before you consider JHAS make sure that they recognise EASA licenses.

MATMAX, if you want my advice, don't!
They recently went on a recruiting drive to EU somewhere and came back with a few people. One guy in particular, one of your county men in fact, went through the induction and had a sniff around talking to a few guys. Didn't take him long to sus the place out. Left post haste. Lucky or smart! Who knows, but he avoided making a big mistake.

Don't be fooled by their recruiting tactics. Hollow promises of the promised land and a permanent residency. They are the masters of deception.

Don't join JHAS!!!

On the surface everything is roses, but dig a little and you'll find an ingrained track record of poor staff treatment.
Why else do they struggle to attract staff and go OS?
They seem to offer the world and never deliver.
- there pay rate is one of the best, but people stiff leave or are pushed out.
- they struggle to attract enough work to survive and currently run at a loss
- there facilities are some of the best in OZ, but they had to close heavy Maint
- they recently cleaned out the management team, but just re-hired the same culture replacements.
- the stories of mistreated employees are chilling. There is no job security regardless of position.

Given all this and more...... I'd stay clear if them for now.

So now that all you folks who didn't want to listen and went to JHAS anyway, what's the verdict?

Is it the rosey place they painted it to be?
Have you already left in disgust?
Are you too committed to you 457 visa and afraid to go or speak up?

Please comment, the guys I know reakon the place has hit a new low, which no one thought was possible....

One year on and we are all still with JHAS. Sure there are politics, but every company I have worked at has had these problems. It certainly isn't as bad as people on here like to make out.

An EASA B1/B2 is easily converted to a CASA licence, the money is almost double of what it is in Europe currently and the economy is in a better state over here.

Sometimes it pays not to listen to bitter people on these websites as it turned out to be a brilliant decision to come over here for me personally.

JHAS isnt too bad when compared to my previous company. Management at JHAS have a lot of small issues to deal with, but are very slow and appear unable to fix them. But thats management. I don't expect too much from them.The current management team dosen't look good and yes that is a concern for us on the coal face.
As for working on the floor, there is a good bunch of guys/gals there. Its been noted that some of the imports are not exactly what JHAS hoped for, but what can you do when the HR people who hired them are now themselves gone?
Overall its not all bad, yes could be much better.

Can't help you with JHAS,but with your French licence you'll have no problems to convert it.(Should be one module only).

But you need a 457 visa,and salary less 120k AUD is no improvement to Europe with
80k in €.
Had a good offer myself,went down to check housing,schools,jobs etc - but decided
to stay in the old world.

We all know the landscape for businesses trying to make it in aviation in these parts. The list of trying hard and failing is long and distinguished. Just wonder how things are at JHAS? Do Virgin, JQ, and Tiger still look like hanging in there?
