Human Factors Study - Contractor Induction Practices
Dear Forum,
I am a postgraduate Applied Ergonomics ('Human Factors') student at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. For my project I am investigating the organisational interface issues between freelance aviation maintenance 'contractors' and the companies which use their services and how this affects their ability to perform their duties safely and to a high standard. PPRuNE Admin has kindly given me permission to publicise a survey for contractors on this site.
Human factors research and application is an important part of maintaining and increasing safety within our industry and remains one of the few areas where significant improvements can be made. To perform this study, it would be necessary to survey a representative number of both contractors and companies which use them.
I have created a secure and confidential online survey for predomiantly aircraft maintenance contractors, who have worked on one or more aviation maintenance or modification contracts in the last three years, at the following link:

IMPORTANT: Please note that you may receive a warning from your browser about the site (because it is addressed with an IP web address instead of the domain name,) you should agree to accept the security certificate temporarily in order to complete the survey.
More details are given on the survey site. If you have a few minutes and you've been on a contract in the last three years it would be helpful if you could complete the survey, or most helpful of all, if you could also tell other contractors as I need to get a decent number of responses in order to get meaningful results.
A survey for organisations which use contractors will soon be available.

Many thanks again to all who have participated in the contractor human factors research surveys.
The surveys will be closing within the week, so if any of you hadn't got around to participating but wanted to, you have just a few days more to do so.
I'll try to report back with some results, but this won't be until December or January when the project is complete. However, there appear to be some interesting findings.
