How to start? a very simple question.

Dear All,

here my situation:
I have a technical master science degree in IT (and PPL student pilot).
I would like to become maintenance engineer.

here my question:
Which is the fastest way to get licensed and go to work?

Each tips is welcome!

If you have a PPl then follow through on your pilot course and get an ATPL and be an airlines pilot.
Way better than engineering.
However if you're still insisting to get to the engineering then here's some tips as to what you should do:
1-find a job as an unlicensed mechanic.
2-work for 2 years and keep a CAP 741 logbook with you in which you would write all the tasks you performed and get the engineers to sign for you.
3- after 2 years get hooked to an EASA training school and attend the whole curriculum of a part 66 license training.
4- once you pass all your modules together with your logbook you'll then meet all the requirments to applying for a B license so apply and get one and thats it.
Sounds like a huge and aggravating story that's why I highly recommend that you follow through on being a pilot, pilot job is much better in terms of pay and workload.

And why is that? Personally I couldn't think of anything more dull than life as an airline pilot. Flying the same piece of hardware everyday to the same destinations, pulling the stick back for take-off and pushing it forward for landing whilst a computer takes care of the rest. Most of the drivers I deal with on a day to day basis say it bores the crap out of them and they only do it because they do not know anything else. 5 earlies followed by 2 days off, night corfu's and sharm el sheikh's and a roster that only enables you to plan your life 28 days in advance - er no thanks!! I'll stick to low life engineering - 4 on 4 off, working multiple aircraft types with a mixture of flying spanner work, downroute AOG's and detachments to keep it interesting and a paychit that has the F/O's and some junior capt's green with envy

I know it's a dull job but in terms of pay and people respect a pilot job is way over the top.
Most pilots earn around twice the salary of licensed engineers.
engineering industry has been falling apart and god knows when will it recover, companies view engineers with a great disdain because they're a source of a spending and money loss when they're working the aircraft is grounded and when they change parts the company loses money, Pilots are viewed with utmost respect because when they fly the company is making money.
I know it sounds like a gawky outlook but I see it this way.
And in the end in his situation I see piloting as the most applicable job since he already started and got his PPL so why moving to a completely diffrent ambience and wasting 2 years of his life or more working for peanuts as a mech when he can override all this by becoming a pilot.

Please have the courtesy of learning the basics before offering advice. If you have to push forward to land then you've got something wrong!

lol EGT was just being sarcastic we all know that you idle the thrust and pull to flare.
But what he meant was true, Pilots job is not really a big deal nowadays you can easily land your aircrafts whilst having a cup of coffee and reading on a news paper.
It's never what it was like before when pilots actually flew the aircrafts like on DC3s.

Flame Bringer, speak for yourself , i personally earn more than all the FOs in our company and more than 50 % of our captains,and im just one of those lowly engineers. I also get to see my wife and kids every single day and that my friend is worth more than all the cash anywhere , not many pilots get that luxury.
Pros and cons for both careers i think.

Well it would appear that some do as I have had to repair one or two airframes in the past that have been bent on landing.

I agree. Not trying to turn this thread into a pissing contest by any means, just a bit of light hearted humour that's all.
