Time Between Overhauls for Landing Gears

Hi all,
I try to make this simple, not good in writing forums, please bear with me:

- B737 Classic Landing Gears has a TBO of 10 years and 25,000 Cycles

An overhaul was carried out on the year 1998, fitted on the aircraft on the year 2000, removed at 2004 and not used since. What will be the due year for next overhaul ?

Please kindly advise. Thanks.

Reason for no allowance for being stored is due to corrosion, it does not stop corroding while it is stored.
This why the 10 years starts from the date on the form 1 and not when fitted to the aircraft.

Coolk, not really sure what you are now asking. The MPD gives you both the figures ie 120 months or(not and) 25K cycles as the maintenance program is approved by the local authority (who can extend the period) then the figures in the MPD become the limits applicable, simple.

Although the MPD may state 120M

I know that BA operates under (or at least used to?) overhaul at 8 years, and not the allowed 10 years.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I left the Airworthiness section in 2007, and things may have moved on now!

Hi Guys,
I greatly appreciate your advices. Looks like performing the overhaul now is the only direction. Thanks again.

Don't forget that you will have some tasks on the aircraft fittings that will need to be inspected at gear removal.
Not knowing what is in the B737 MPD & MRBR, however other Boeing a/c B757/B767 have tasks for the airframe parts at gear removal or gear overhaul.
Boeing may have the requirements as part of the AMM procedure for gear removal & refit, but sometimes it may only be in the MPD/MRBR, so beware.

Yes, I know of at least 2 airframe CPCP tasks that need to be done as part of a landing gear change on the 737 classics. One of the tasks does require gear removal for access so if it gets mixed it is an expensive mistake to rectify.

Actually I think you will find it is 10 years or 25,000 cycles which ever is reached first.

FLEET TEAM Digest 737-FTD-32-10002 describe the problem exactly.
