"CREEP" in jet engines
Seems "creep" is a big issue with jet engine design...
Would be grateful if anyone could enlighten me as to how this effects everyday operations.

Creep is a property of titanium whereby the material will gradually permanently deform under the effects of heat and stress. For obvious reasons the design of engine components restricts the temperature and stress level of such parts to regions where creep is not a factor.
Creep can be useful though. Some fan blades that are dented by soft body FOD or have become untwisted can be restored to their original profile by hot creep forming, where the blade is pressed between 2 heated dies shaped to the original profile of the blade.
