Cooling duct assembly compatibility

Hi

This is a HTP stage 1 cooling duct assembly that is used on a JTD9 - 7A, or a JTD9- 7F or a JTD9-7J engine(which are used on Boeing 747's)

Is it possible to install this same cooling duct assembly on a JTD9- 7R4D engine(which is used on a boeing 767).....or would it be incompatible?

Thanks in advance.

If you can't find the info readily in approved documentation / manuals then you need to ask the engine manufacturer.

Hi there,

I doubt you could fit that as the Chromalloy would state all applicable engine types/marks on the advert to increase sales. As this looks like a PMA part, Chromalloy will be the only ones who'll advise on this, doubt PW will be interested in helping.

Also, be careful when fitting PMA parts as you may void all warranties on the engine by fitting non OEM material.

Cheers,

The Chromally SanDiego website capability list shows a very different looking HPT seal assembly for the 7R4 with a very different part number (801123) So I would have said don't look compatible unles P&W says they are and in writing.

The turbine assembly of the 7R series is completely different from the early 7A/7F series so the compatibility is unlikely - as a completely irrelevant fact the tangential cooling ducts are known as "tobi tubes"!
