Technical Services Salaries

Hi all,

I'm considering a move into an airline technical services department (Irish regional airline) and am wondering if someone can give me some guidance on current salaries in tech services departments either in Ireland or further afield?

Thanks in advance,

Papa2Charlie

Hello P2C

here in HKG it's about Euros 3,800 starting wage per month (before 17%ish local taxes), plus housing of Euros 2,200 - 6,000 per month for rental (goes up to 6,500ish if you get a mortgage), schooling and private health as well.

Good Luck,

You should get at least as much as a fully qualified Line Engineer for your airline, being tied to their wages may not be a bad idea!

And you may need to get some much smarter clothes.

Tech services guys at our company receive around a the same basic as a licensed engineer less approval pay and shift pay, so would imagine their on around 38k where as a average liney is on around 50k with shift /approval pay

£38,000 to £43,000 would be the UK rate for a permanent position, Mon-Fri 8am-4.30pm. Contracting rates for "independent consultant" tech services people are around £30 an hour. My most recent "off-shore" contract paid 35 Euros an hour.

Line Engineers may certainly earn more but their working conditions are much less attractive. Shift pay isn't paid for nothing and the long-term health effects of working shifts - especially nights - are well documented. (and check out the ages in the obituary columns of BA News.)

In any case, there are "Tech Services" type jobs available that work shifts and earn shift pay - Maintenance Controllers, Short-term Planners and Defect Analysts for example.

Tech Serv Salary - Ireland

Hi - The current rates of pay would depend on level of experience in the job. Starting Salary for a Junior could be as low as EUR 25-30K per annum. If you are experienced then I would expect in the region of EUR 50K +. Bear in mind this might all change with the current economic climate and the recent availability of ex SRT staff at Dublin. The result would tend to drive those figures downwards...NFF PLS RTFM
