Devil future carreer?any help ?

Hey I m a Mechanical engineering student ... I am planning for an MS in Aerospace engineering in the US or Europe ... but I would like to know my options after that ... I wanted to be a flight engineer but thats quite out of the picture now! By the way I am oriented towards R &D.

I am interested in design/analysis (Computational Fluid Dynamics stuff atleast for now ) .... can anyone please tell me wat are my options after my MS?? ... I would surely like to settle with a Boeing or an Airbus job!
I feel guilty to have posted here but I wanted some expert advice!
thanks in advance.

Well, if you want to get into R & D then let me clarify........dont just limit your option for only Boeing and Airbus......most of the companies who are in manufacturing (usually the subsidiaries and partner companies of these 2 manufacturers) have their own R & D departments. After MS you can apply for Graduate Placements with either Boeing and Airbus....check their web-site....and start looking into all the companies who supply parts to these people.....who knows somebody might sponsor you for your MS depending on your academic results..... Good Luck!!!

thank you for your reply . but I still have some doubts regarding the license people keep talking about ..... suppose I want to work for an aircraft industry .. do I need some license even after my graduation ??

I have no idea about the work people can do in aircraft industries ... if you can share some link or something it would be of great help. I am confused as to what I would like to do for the rest of my life!

thanks in advance

Regards
Jig.

My friend. many highly qualified Engineers are out of jobs and many more will be. Please time your requests at the right time. That is option 1 on your CV.

Jig,

Licences are only needed by those working as Line or hangar Maintenance Engineers , not something you need to worry about as a graduate engineer aiming to work in an analysis type role.

Infosys and Infotech in India are actually currently picking up alot of sub-contract work from Airbus and other European Companies. There is an increasing trend to outsource work to India due to the cost benefits. As a result you may find that the Aerospace Industry in India will offer you better employment opportunites than trying to work in Europe.

If you want to go down the apprentiship and get your licences, Bristows were advertising in the Express this week.

Jig,
There are many manufacturers other than Boeing or Airbus - such as HAL in India or BAE in UK. It can only take a few e-mails to get answers, good or bad, to your questions from any manufaturer.

Have a go!

Thank you for your replies ... I hope I keep getting everyone s views!. I am damn confused whether to go ahead with an MS or not (as it is difficult to get a job even after Masters)! Hope things get better ... I dont think I am gonna get placed this year (on campus placement)!

Companies like Mercedes (R&D,Bangalore) have stopped offering internships this year ... I was so sure to get that internship!sad.

Regards,
Jig.
