Talking Avionics sector

Hi guys and girls.. I haven't been on these boards for a while now since I stopped flying as cabin crew. Good to be back!

I've recently been accepted onto an Electronics Engineering degree at the University of Liverpool and I'm really excited about the prospect of going to Uni and all that goes with that.

I have the option to specialise in a number of areas and the two that appeal to me the most are Avionics and Medical Electronics.

Could anyone please give me their opinion on what the job market is like at the moment and where things might be headed in the next 3/4 years?

Has anyone got any first hand experience of Liverpool University?

I've been looking at maybe trying to secure a sponsorship during my studies and have seen a sponsorship with the MOD where they'll supplement your student loan with £4000 PA and also provide you valuable work experience during the summer break paid at £14500 pro rata. You have to commit to 3 years service as a civilian engineer afterwards but that seems like a fantastic opportunity to work towards CEng status and get plenty of practical experience.

Do civil airlines offer anything like this?

Any advice and experience would be greatly received.

Thanks

Scott

Be carefull signing on with the MOD for three years after your degree. Find out what they pay because they are notoriously bad payers. You might be better trying to get into the airlines straight away, in the long run it would probably be better financialy.
