Job Cuts - First Choice/TUI - Merger

Any information on the merger. How this is going to hit the FCA engineering departments at Manchester and/or in general other area. Are the jobs at risk/safe ??? and the possibility of restructure??? what will happen. Your views are invited.

Also would like to hear from anyone who recently joined (within Engineering Technical department Manchester) or has recently resigned due to the fear of a merger.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

With no answer all this time, and being an ex-FCA employee, I'll have a stab at it from a purely personal opinion.
Having read in trade press that many FCA aircraft are likely to be returned off Lease within the next five years, and having seen (in other fleets) leases being curtailed or transferred at the drop of a hat, and that the combined TUI/FCA B787 orders total some 23 aircraft, I think it likely that FCA at CWH will be a proposed closure, possibly retaining Line Maintenance at locations not co-located with thomsonfly and merging those that are located with T'fly.
T'fly at LTN are a much larger engineering concern and with a Base Maintenance factility and probably preferred by TUI Head Office.
As I said this is personal opinion and, obviously, I stand to be corrected or otherwise argued against.

Appreciate your feedback. Bearing in mind that FCA - TUI is NOT a buy out.
It is understandable as new aircraft is phased in the older one's would have to be returned.
Some good point/s you have highlited. I can guess that if this merger go through the impact on certain jobs and relocation as you said is possible but not certain. Was your decison based on this fact?

Lets have some more views please.
