Whizz-bang spanking new casting/PM manufacturing processes?

Ahhh, third year Manufacturing, and I've nearly done all my reports (I wish! from to in 1 week.)

Anyways, I've to submit a report on a cutting-edge manufacturing process that involves either sand casting or some other form of Powder metallurgy. The thing is it needs to be something brand new, cutting edge, not covered in the course. "New materials used in Jet turbine blades" was an example that propped my ears, but all the types of processes I could find were already taken. Any suggestions? I have access to plenty of online academic journals through the college, so anything in there would help.

Thanks
