A&P vs JAA Help!

Hello guys. is there anyone who could help? I am British but have lived in the US now for almost six years. I recently got my FAA Airframe&Powerplant certificate but am now wanting to move back to the UK. Of what use is my FAA A&P back in the UK and is it difficult to convert to the JAA equivalent?
Thanks for your time and trouble in advance of your response!

There are limited uses for the A&P in UK, Polar in Prestwick are always looking for B747 people so You could try there. As for converting an A&P to an EASA part 66 license there is no conversion neither do you get any exemptions if you wish to get this license the present regulations say you must pass all exams and have a further 5 years experience to actually use license priviledges (with the appropriate type rating) though this can be reduced depending on your previous experience.

Your A&P may be useful to some GA Co's as a bit of a scam here is to remain US Registered for as long as posible - needing A&P licence cover.

What type of aircraft do have you experience working on? Do you have any large jet transport experience?
