GA engineer / avionics
Hello all.
I am committed to changing careers from agriculture to aviation engineering, either airframes or avionics. I have a degree in agriculture (admittedly not much use when working with a/c), however it is a degree and I know my strengths have always been anything involving mechanics, etc. I passed my higher physics prelim with 99%, so I know my capabilities. I have a PPL and have been around a/c and flying for all my years. I am in the process of contacting training organisations to establish what routes there are for me at 29 to get into the industry, with preference to the GA community, whether it be maintenance, avionics or airframes. By and large it looks like im too old for apprenticeships and wont have much luck being taken on without some sort of certificate or qualification, or BEng degree.
Anybody any thoughts ? What route would you suggest ?
Any thoughts about self employed avionic fitter for GA, which as i understand it there is not a lot of around ??
(was upposed to be a brief post, sorry !) - any ideas much appreciated - and ive read many posts on here and know there are pitfalls like most careers / jobs...

Why not work towards a B2 license? Licensed Avionic Engineer would be a very good career, work on the bigger stuff if you want the money, £40k at least I'd have said for a B2.
Check www.AirMech.co.uk alternativly, there are a few posts now on here about becoming licensed.
