Smile Tech Records Questions/Help

Hi everyone

Not sure if this is the right forum and not posted here before, so please Mods feel free to place it where it belongs

I have been in a Tech Records position for a company for a few weeks now and just would like to ask a few simple questions. I have not really done the job before, my area mainly a/c despatch and operations.

Is there a manual that is a bible for the subject? Can anyone recommend a good bedtime read that will explain a little more that is going on in the changing world of the Part 145 and the new legislations coming in force other than the CAA web site and their files there.

Has anyone gone into this position as a rookie and done it for some time and has some useful tips on how to set the systems up?

Our Engineers are great very patient with me but also very busy with their checks that they are doing and I sometimes feel like a complete idiot going out and disturbing them over some issues.

Any advice or good reads would be gratefully received. The operation is Helicopters and not fixed wing

Thanks in advance. If you don;t want to post on here then pleas feel free to pm me

Thumbs up

Welcome to the world of maintenance engineering TnT. Engineers are the salt of the earth and you're in safe hands at last. Not many Jet Blasters find their way in here.

Sorry, but I don't know of any 'bible' on the subject. Our own Keeper of the Records has been at it for a few years; in the beginning she used to harrass us for information and assistance. Now the boot's on the other foot, with the engineers always off to records to 'ask Irene'. I'm afraid its very much an 'On The Job Training' sort of job. On the other hand, if you get stuck on a specific item, there's usually someone around here with the answer.

As to the changing world of Part 145 - and especially Part M - even EASA haven't a clue what they're doing, so what chance have we mere mortals.

have to agree with that after a little accident yesterday out on the hangar floor, never seen so many lovely people ask if the T lady was ok, would I like to sit down, have a cup etc.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I had toyed with the idea of posting in here ages ago but not sure if I should and now realise I should have come for advice ages ago.

I think I will have to be annoying for a while, glad it is an on the job training as the challenges that brings and the vertical learning curve are good and I enjoy that sort of thing

EASA is going to be an interesting phase in aviation and with anything new we have to let it have a chance regardless of what we think at the moment!!

Thanks again
