Question Maintenance Certification

Has anyone ever used a Tech recording system where the MM pages have certification coloumns down the edge of the page? There are obvious airworthiness advantages, but I was wondering about the disadvantages.

our planning department issue these as an attachment to a workcard. They are only used as a ref to the MM to save us looking it up ourselves. As there is no CRS on these sheets they can not be used for certification. If there was a CRS on the bottom then it would certainly save a bit of time for the planning department but you can imagine the state of the paperwork after it had been referred to on the job!

The only time I have seen it used within VS is when carrying out engine changes. We would normally have a hard (for certification and soft (hangar floor reference) copy. The only disadvantage is on the A340 in which the eng cx mm uses loads of other references.
Overall I think it is better as it gives natural breaks for shift changes etc.

The ATR42/72 Job Instruction Cards p (JIC's) provide such a method. Can be very useful.
