Cool

How can I get an A&P licence when my current employer has no need for me to hold one?
There are loads of good jobs out there that require an A&P and I'm looking at a job change very, very soon.

You need a letter from the CAA (yes you have to pay) saying you have the experience etc, a copy of your license is not enough, you need a letter from an operator of N reg a/c to say that you work on them. You then have top pay around £85 to the local faa office, Gatwick in the UK, who WILL interview you and say yes or no. They then give you 3 slips of paper that entitle you to take the written exam, these are valid for 2 years. Which there is a place in the UK where you can do it, otherwise the USA, then you have to do practical/oral exam at an FAA testing center in the USA.

Sorry, can't for the life of me remember, I know it is Twickenham way. I'll see if I can dig up the bits and bobs next time at work, Tuesday 28th. Sorry.

Take a look at NAIA naiasc.com, It's not in the UK it is in South Carolina. I did my A&P in two weeks there, you will need a letter from your employer and the CAA, but I can't remember having to pay £85 to the FAA. THe first week you do practise exams revise the weak points, the second week you do your Oral and Practical, I was one on one with an instructor, the biggest class I have heard of there is around four guys.
