Interesting engine change on 767 in Moscow few years back.Engine 5th podded out on 747.No equipment bar 2 sets of A frame steps.Got into country without stamp in passport or visa. Company had to supply catering containers each day,one with hot meals, other one with minatures to assist with bribes!!!!.Had to pack everything away in the a/c hold as soon as it got dark. Or it walked!! And to top it all we worked outside in the corner of the airfield NO lights, middle of Feb.
When we'd finished co. said get on the a/c and come home.Needless to say we said get stuffed and had 2days sight seeing.
Booze was b****y expensive too!!

Jet Set Sparky...5th pod not a bad un; prep time about 3hrs maybe more depending on eng. type. Only a beam on top. Fan removed and core eng. blanked. Installation about the same again. One big fitting on front spar and two fittings on wing lwr. skin.Poor sod on front hoist has to do all the work though.
As for penalties crew dont even know they've got 8 tonnes of dead wt. screwed to the bottom of the wing except for slightly lwr. max vmo. Classic has decal on airspeed ind. and 400 just a flick of a s/w down in the mec.to tell the FMS. No fuel penalty (I think) but not so much frt.
wot does make em take notice is when you tell em not to attempt to start it!!!!!
