Zarg, Leatherman,

A numpty would probably answer the description of any brain dead being, numb from the ankles upwards. I`m sure those of you out there with a more profound mastery of the English language could put a better description of a numpty in this posting. Lets here your numpty descriptions.

Cool

Interesting to hear all the guys sitting around on NYE in case of Y2K probs with non-existant aircraft - out here in Knowteetingham the locals sent all the BAe lads home for the duration - I think the reason was something to do with the fact that they knew none of the lads would be fit to go even near an a/c! Just canx all flying for the duration!! (Don't tell Saddam!!!)

Flight Sims, very expensive toys - but real fun to play with!

Here is the first numpty nasty of the Millennium. We had to do a repair to a 767 core cowl and then send it away to a metal specialists for stress relieving. They stress relieved it all right. It should have been cooked at 1100 degrees F but they cooked it at 1100 degrees C. WHOOOOPPPPS!!!!!

The main numpty I work with is known as "Dougal" - due to his immense likeness (in attitude) to the character from Father Ted.
Seeing is believing with this guy. He recently went to take a licence exam, only to be told that he'd already taken and passed it! I'm sure all of us can remember when we took exams and the results, but not this guy.
The flight deck need no mention. I've lost count of the times of a defect being reported and the fix has been to apply power to the faulty system, which then springs happily into life. Still, without pilots I'd be out of a job.

Many moons ago I was called out to a 1-11 with a reported Altimeter problem, the crew where doing their final checksand where just about ready to go.(African company flying home from the UK).
On entering the cockpit the first officer turn to me and said "ENG`s (just dont you hate being called that!) my altimeter is miss reading by 250 ft it only shows 0ft.following the highly paid space jockies finger I relised that we was pointing to his Rad Alt indicator. I said " looks ok to me." to which his reply was but Manchester is 250 ft above sea level isn`t that what it should read? ".
I didn`t even answer just my expression must have said it all .
