Danny
How about blocking any posts with " Airmech" in it?
Having looked at a number of posts in the Eng & Tech forum, most slag off PPRuNe, pilots, the speed of the service etc.

Being an engineer & working with pilots, cabin crew, ops staff etc it is good to get differing views from the others involved with the airlines. We are all part of a team as opposed to the Airmech people who are just some ex RAF mechanics with a grudge. "Airmech" boasts that it does not allow pilots so ban them from this forum & give eveyone a break from them.

Just block them.

By doing that you are doing exactly what airmech is doing, so you are just as bad. personaly I can't see anything wrong with either site they are both informative and worth a look so we should stop fighting amongst ourselves and give credit where it's due.

It appears rather ironic that the topic of airmech is keeping this pprune forum alive.
I agree with you Ramp, both are good and informative sites but you dont get much from this forum!!!
I think that as membership of both sites (engineers that is) increases we will have more to discuss.
We need to spread the word about both pprune and airmech to keep our interest up.
I am sure that Danny does not mind a rival site, it will free a little space on his server (not that we use a lot). (judging by the amount of topics lately).
Chris. Banning pilots from airmech...think again!!!

Whoever said anything about banning pilots?

I just said it was a website for aircraft mechanics. It is not a website for aircraft mechanics and pilots - is this clear, or is it a really difficult subject to take in?

How would I know if anyone was a pilot or not. You could sign in as "concorde_captain" if you want. There won't be any flying topics though, unless it relates to engineering aspects.

Anyway, yes I agree that the two sites compliment each other, and I want to thank the 200 or so that have registered with us in the last couple of weeks.

Just a note, quite soon all the revision questions and licensing info will be available on the bulletin board once we have ironed a few snags out.

Have you actually bothered doing a search for AirMech on this site. You will find 32 threads in total that mention AirMech. Most of which are not 'derogatory' in any way, rather they are posted by your colleagues to help your colleagues. So go ahead, ban the word airmech, that will be really useful.

Again, where did I say pilots are banned? I said we have a website for Aircraft Mechanics. We always have. It is not a pilots site. It's that simple.

In the last 20 days there have been 26 new threads with a total of about 100 posts on pprune. A third of these mention airmech.

On AirMech we have had 104 new threads, with a total of 320 posts. And we have only just begun.

I always thought pprune was far more popular until you made me look. Thanks dude.

AirMech - A couple of ex-RAF Mechanics! You haven't got a clue really, have you? Numpty.

And before you accuse anyone of having a grudge, please review your message that started this thread. Calm down a bit and like us, admit that there is two sides to the same coin.

After reading the threads over the last couple of days, I'm afraid as engineers we're at it again. Always on each others backs when we should really be trying to show a united front. There is a place for pprune and as many engineers sites as the web will hold but the key word is impartiality. To that end and to give people a choice I've set up a new website not all singing and dancing, fast & furious, but another site for people to get a better idea of what WE are about.
It's not set up for financial gain although it would be nice if I could off set the cost of setting it up !! But I'm open to offers if anyone would like to help me set it up and run it properly as I'm a novice........
There's room for us all.
