Red face HEAVY LANDING?

Quick question for any engineers that deal with light aircraft maintenance.Recently we discovered a small amount of rippling in the skin on the wing, just aft ofthe main gear.We also discovered another small amouunt on the fuselage. As it has been foggy for almost a week here a couple of us went over to take a look at what the engineers were up to.They were far too busy to make pleasant conversation with us,as they had the wing off ,fuel tank removed.etc etc.
We just wanted to know what sort of things as an engineer you are looking for and how do you repair it.
