Maintenance men, where are they?

Hi chaps (and chapesses!), can anyone help me? A friend of mine has recently started a small turbo-prop operation in the UK, and if it grows according to plan I hope to get a right-hand seat eventually.

Only trouble is he currently has to wear lots of hats, and if he doesn’t get someone else to look after managing maintenance my right-hand seat may well go out of the window.

Although this is not my business, I obviously have a vested interest in things working out. Any ideas? PM me if you have any thoughts on the matter.

Try advertising here (I'm about to advertise for a couple of Engineers, albeit with rather different skillsets, and that I reckon is my best bet for finding the right person).

Try offering a professional salary!!

The responsibility involved warrants more than the £35k plus 'perks' that most currently seem to be offering.

Good luck.

That of course depends enormously upon the class of aircraft and size of the operation. Thus, so will a head of maintenance's pay vary.

true enough, im talking here about engineers who work for say mon ,tca ,ba,myt etc who all earn roughly this amount as a basic salary which is not a fortune considering the shift work, responsibility involved , numerous type ratings required etc is it? i personally hold full crs on a330 ,321, 320 757,767, a300, and work a 48 hr week, four on four off days and nights outside in all weathers and earn with some overtime around 48k which isnt exactly a kings ransom is it?

I wish!

work a 48 hr week, four on four off days and nights
that's not a 48hr week, over a 52 week period that averages 42hrs a week! After all that's why you get shift pay!

That of course depends enormously upon the class of aircraft and size of the operation.
Should make no difference whatsoever, the responsibilty is the same!

Aw c'mon smudge you are winding us up now. You have to have a hell of a lot of cover to get 48k in this business.
I know for a fact that MyT pay a lot less than 40k for a couple of types as a B1.

BA the same.

Thomas Cook seem to be the market leaders and good luck to em I say.....

Any vacancies?

Licenced Turbro Prop Engineers Pay

Mattress Man..

Currently working for a company that operates turbro-prop aircraft and pay vaties from about 25-31K depending on approvals, licence cover and shifts.

Although more money can be made else where, there are advantages to working for a small company. I choose to work for less pay because the location suits me.

However location plays a big part in the pay deal. Even offering 40K would not tempt a move to an airport based in or near a big city.

P.S. hope you find your work force...
