Ooops - dodgy heat treatment

An interesting letter in my in-tray this morning from UK CAA. Apparently a firm in the USA called Temperform have just been discovered by FAA to have been improperly heat-treating parts between 1998 and 2001. They seem to have supplied parts for just about every major type on the planet from the 747 to the R22. I've spoken to the letter's author at CAA, who said he's only just got the info from FAA himself, and doesn't yet know the scale of the problem - but it sounds nastily global.

The list of parts affected is here, might be worth a look before Boeing, Airbus, et-al start writing to you.
