latest on Air nagukurr? is that how you say...........

Is Air (place about 280nm se of dn)ngukkur still operating. . .Read some posts on it a few weeks ago. Sounds like how another company was started up there. From an Island a little further east. But that company had people who started it using the money from the wah wahs to set a standed on how a charter company should be run. Not use it on them selves. Atleast not until they left the company. . .There still going on strong I hear.

prop-wash 1st Mar 2002 05:06

The company you refer to is still operating. They have a new CP in place who apparently (rumour only) is respected by the current pilots.

Mr Perfect 1st Mar 2002 07:11

RESPECTED?!?!?!?! . .I'm sorry prop, but that couldn't be further from the truth. (as you said it was a rumour, it was probably started by the CP himself!!). .I've worked under this guy before, and the few people that I know at Air Ngukurr, really dislike him, and thats being nice!. .He doesn't like pilots that don't suck up to him, or pilots that stand up for their rights. Also i've heard he is a bit racist, i won't say his name, but he knows who he is. . .Now all you ex-air ngukurr pilots out there, you thought the old CP was bad, he is an ANGEL compared to this new bloke.. .I think the whole 'power trip' thing has got to him, and he thinks he is gods gift to pilots, so in that sense, he comes across like a budding Hitler!! :) . .Any of you current Air Ngukurr boys, or friends of them, make your own comments on here about him, I'd really like to know if it's just a few of you who feel the same way, or is it the same across the board??

Gotmygearup 1st Mar 2002 07:49

I think there are probably many who would like to know, what life in AN(gkurr)Mk2 is like.

As someone new to DN, it's seems imposible to know whether to go meet this guy and s##k up, or when to draw the line & avoid them to protect my career. With old claims (no longer in archives I note) and recent ones of CDEP pay, terrible living conditions, and.... . [quote] a budding Hitler!!

. ....it's all very confusing.

Have things improved???

Offchocks 1st Mar 2002 10:42

The last I heard from a friend was that things were quite good up at Air Ngukurr.

The Bionic Vapour Boy 1st Mar 2002 16:07

Firstly Offchocks, things at air NGU are ok, i mean with the whole airport being very quiet, not much work is going on.. .Secondly Gotmygearup, the old CP, who recently had his approval taken off him, isn't that bad, people in the company, not just pilots, have said he has improved over what he used to be like, and in my opinion, he is nt an unreasonable man. However, the new CP, who used to be the CP of Kak Air, well twice he was, and there were many a pilot made unhappy with this character. When this person left the CP position of Kak Air, he came back shortly after, and the pilots employed by the stand in CP, were not looked after (basically he didnt like them), and the pilots knew it too. So a few of them were hired by Wimray, and they are still there with the purchase by air NGU, so he is a but funny towards them, actually he is a but funny towards alot of the current pilots, tho there are a few who he likes (for reasons i shant say).. .Suer he is bad, and is getting rather too bossy, i think that "a budding hitler", is going a little too far, he isn't THAT bad, maybe your friends are in his bad books or something, but i do agree on the power trip, he was never this way when he was just a casual at wimray.

joechen 1st Mar 2002 20:49

this is getting confusing... . .can someone clarify?

1.hasn't air ngukurr bought out wimray?. .2.and the old CP at ngukurr is a kiwi with initials H.E.?. .3.and the current CP at ngukurr who was also ex CP at Kak air name of Cr... Mi....?. .4.does ngukurr still operate under the wimray name?

Jose Cuervo 2nd Mar 2002 04:16

1. Yes. .2. Yes. .3. No (Ro... Do....). .4. Yes

Hey Bionic Vapour Boy, you refer to the current CP liking a few of his pilots....do you mean the "Bull" factor??

My few cents worth are as follows to any aspiring wannabe trying for a job in NT with BULL:

1. Desparation for your first type job may require you to work for the current Bozo CP at Air Ngukurr. And yes, you may be required to apply a little vasoline to your rear end.. .2. Don't forget, it's a means to an end.(Being your big airline career). .3. Bozo (Bull)will never have an airline career, so you can expect s**t from him cos' he's jealous of most pilots employed under him. I believe he's not allowed near the Bandit, so he's even more agro.. .5. Do not try to talk sense into this idiot when you have an interview. (He doesn't know what he's on about: thinks aiming points are variable and can move up and down runways). He is always right cos' he's the CP.. .6. He responds well to being called "Bull"(I think this is his role in his current boy/boy relationship). .7. It's very quiet in the to end right now, no work anywhere, but if you have in excess of 1000hrs and good sound knowledge on C210/C206 you may land a job with Hardy's.. .8. Wac wac's require an ATPL with 6 shuttle launches and monn landing recency.. .9. Give old Bull a go, you never know what's around the corner.

Flaps Down 3rd Mar 2002 16:00

Ah yes, the infamous BULL factor! Think it means Bull$**** factor.

The Bionic Vapour Boy 3rd Mar 2002 16:26

Bull$*** factor. .I always thoguht it was the Bullwinkle factor. .

Ask Bozo about VH-GKZ crash at Kakair. Really showed his true colours there. Made lots of friends(NOT)!!! Bend over boys, you are all in for a good shafting.

Cap'n Bunghole 8th Mar 2002 09:27

Zuludead,. .Tell me more about the great GKZ. I used to fly that bucket of *^%$ until about 6 months (i think?) before it spudded in. Fuel pump failure, I heard but I didn't hear about the political fallout afterwards.

Northern Chique 8th Mar 2002 10:57

Zuludead, be careful.... . .. .I realise casting dispersions is your specialty but unless you have fact not innuendo be very careful.. .. .You caused enough trouble already without attacking somebody else. I know who you are as do others. Again be very careful, legal action is not pleasant. .. .I would have posted you personally but you dont have your email address handy. . .. .Your dispersions also have a secondary effect.. they ruin it for many other Ppruners who come here to have a quiet read, chat, or informed debate.

Jose Cuervo 8th Mar 2002 17:42

C'mon Northern Chique, lighten up, I thought this was what the PPRUNE was all about.......... .This is EXACTLY why I'm here.. . . . [ 08 March 2002, 13:44: Message edited by: Jose Cuervo ]

BelowTenThousand 8th Mar 2002 17:49

I agree Jose!! Northern Chique, babe, Chill out!!. .In case you have forgotten, it is a rumour network!! Let them flow, fast and free

Skidmark 9th Mar 2002 04:57

northern_chique,. .Maybe your initials are R....D.....Me thinks you have this subject a little too close to heart.. .But if you're not who you may be, the pilot of GKZ on that fateful day (with the limited experience the average Kakair pilot has) conducted a successful emergency landing bearing in mind the following:. .1.Nobody was badly injured.. .2.The engine failure occured at an altitude of no higher than 1000ft.. .3.The pilot was inadequately trained by the inadequate CP on emergency procedures.. .So before you start threatening people on this site, maybe you should think twice. Big brother is out there (HERE).. .

Skidmark 9th Mar 2002 05:03

Oh, I forgot!! It was an EDP failure, which absolved pilot error, but the CP (what a guy) sacked the pilot anyway. Maybe the CP should think about his experience regarding training of junior pilots a little more carefully and realise his responsibilities as CP.!!!

Mr Perfect 9th Mar 2002 05:31

Hey Northern Chique, calm down, you haven't worked under him, he is tough and ruthless (one day soon he will be rough and toothless, if C**** M***** has his way).. .But in defence of her, no she is not R**** D****** at all, far from it.. .But Skidmark you are right, it was an EDP failure, and Bull musn't have trained him properly, as if he was he would have put the Aux pump on, but even if he HAD been taught that, his course of action may have proven to be a better one.. .Put yourself in the pilots spot, you're a low time pilot, doing low level scenics, not trained in a low level course, and no training from the CP, you have an engine failure at low level, and your perfomance becomes that of the common house brick (ie, you're going down FAST). What would you do if you only had a few seconds to do something, would you look at your fuel, mags, master, pumps etc, or would you try to save your life by finding a suitable area to land the sucker.. .Now admitadly this is how the majority of people would view the situation, but our old buddy here didn't see it that way, all he saw was, the stupid low time pilots didn't turn on the Aux pump, and because of it, i've got a blemish next to my name.. .I think that being the CP of a company with low time pilots, you are obliged to train them properly and teach them all that you know, and not blame them when something goes wrong.. .It will eventually come back on him, after all, there are alot of pilots he has p***** off in the past, and if he wants to get himself a REAL GA job then he's got buckleys. He had a chance with the police airwing, but it seems a single engine turbine is too hard to fly, so how is he expected to fly a twin engine turbine? . .. .(Edited for not being Perfect). . . . [ 09 March 2002, 01:35: Message edited by: Mr Perfect ]

Skidmark etc, don't soil yer collective undies about it, the accident happened, end story. . .
quote:
It was an EDP failure, which absolved pilot error....

Everyone here has the benefit of hindsight (20/20 usually), and can obviously say that they would have done differently in that situation, had they been there themselves. Some shcools of thought say that they aux (low boost) pump should be on when low, others say not. We can only hope to learn from the mistakes/misfortunes of others so as not to make them ourselves.. .. .No need for anyone to make a huge issue of it.

Skidmark 9th Mar 2002 15:05

429 CJ,. .. .Not a huge issue at all except for the fact that the pilot involved was sacked(meaning big career drama)unfairly by some Bozo not exercising his delegated duties correctly. . .. .This bloke seems to think that he has the power to make/break careers. When in fact he is a clown!! From what I know, the pilot of GKZ at the time made his decision and stuck to it!! HE DID A GOOD JOB IN AVOIDING A CATASTROPHY. . .. .For the members involved at Air Ngukurr - WATCH OUT, this guy will take you down - regardless. I've never heard of him backing up an employee when the Company Director wants blood.. .. .IMHO, all pilots simply want to get the job done in the best and most professional way in order to climb the ladder. They have all spent far too much time, effort and brass to make a mistake and they know it. I'm sure you've seen this happpen time and again for those of us relegated to the GA scene and these young aspiring jocks should be praised for their dedication. . .. .Go get Joe Bloggs apprentice plumber/uni graduate to put up with this cr@p.

Cap'n Bunghole 10th Mar 2002 06:35

Sorry, Ive been down south for too long...... .. .So R D sacks this poor bloke who was obviously a little shaken after the incident which would no doubt have pleased Kakadu Bob, then why did R D leave the company and how did he end up where he is today?. .. .Northern_chique: threatening legal action against somebody who posts on an ANONYMOUS RUMOUR network suggests one of two things.. .1) You have something to hide or,. .2) You dont understand the spirit that this whole forum was created in.. .. .Either way - Lighten up!

The Voice 10th Mar 2002 07:51

It may be prudent boys and girls to remember that even though this is an anonymous rumour forum that the lord high master has had to defend himself of some threatened legal actions. He has also closed Dunnunda from time to time to demonstrate his point, (and also is level of pi$$ed offness). .. .so.... pull your collective heads in, as the way I read N_C's post, she was doing the prudent thing and making a timely reminder to all that legal action can be taken and for all to be cautious in treading where angels fear! I didn't see her post as a threat of legal action against anyone in particular ... . .. .but then I am female and a logical one at that!. .. .Woomera, Woomera where for art though Woomera

I believe RD left Kakair to pursue his own career with the NT Police Airwing. This didn't work out for him. Rumour has it that he couldn't make the grade on the PC12. So he went back to Wimray as a casual charter pilot.. .. .Air Ngukurr bought out Wimray, the CP was sacked by CASA, and so Air Ngukurr needed a bunny to "tow the line".. .. .Hey presto, RD is new CP for them.. .. .Here endith the lesson.

saro 10th Mar 2002 16:55

A casual question here guys.. .. .How can a person not make the grade on an aircraft? I can only assume the applicant was not screened properly at the interview stage. A few appropiate questions on turbine engines perhaps, a few on the CAO's and CAR's and perhaps some human factors type questions on high altitude flight.. .A far as the practical training is concerned, if a candidate fails to make the grade isn't this a reflection on the quality of instruction?. .. .Not withstanding I'm sure there are some out there that should not be let lose in an aircraft but a Police PC-12? Somethings wrong somewhere.

Well it looks like the focus has shifted from the old vilain to the new. Old CP has done quite a good job of pulling his head in, I think he realised that it was about to get shot off!!! . .. .What I do find interesting is the fact that someone here posted that he is a reasonable man, and thet he has been getting better than he was. That is to say he is not as dodgy as he once was. Should he be exused then for past wrongs? Maybe Osama isnt such a bad bloke because he hasent killed anyone in the last couple of months. . .. .I hear that the old CP thinks he will get his CP approval back. Oh CASA dont let this happen. Imagine if he once again rules the roost, then while he is in charge Air Nukurr has one go in.
