Kennedy

There are heaps of people who are qualified and would jump at the chance of working in europe, But until they change their crazy immigration policies as to work permits it's all to no avail. In the end these airlines will have to go to their prospective governments for any change.

Don't hold your breath.

powderhound 14th Sep 2001 06:42

Great post Flappist !! :D

kram 14th Sep 2001 07:40

Theres already enough guys in the UK looking for work, so don't count on the Gov changing there policy, ever.

Loc-out 14th Sep 2001 08:54

Why the hell should the EU change their immagration polices to suit Australians.

Is a EU member state passport holder allowed to work in Australia without a work permit, when Australians are out of work?

The world don't owe you a living.

Loc-out,

If you want to start a sledge session then go and start your own thread.

Don't come to this one and try it on. Windshear provides a great service to many pilots re jobs advertised that they would not get to read otherwise and we don't need the likes of you hijacking his thread.

Thank you Kennedy. It was thoughtful of you to post that and we appreciate it.

Loc-out 14th Sep 2001 17:15

OK, point taken.

Soory Windshear, my post was not intended for you. It was aimed at essbee.

Loc-out 14th Sep 2001 17:22

OK, point taken.

Sorry Windshear, my post was not intended for you. It was aimed at essbee.

Flappist, Can you give me the contact for that job??? That looks bloody attractive at this point.. :D

DESCEND WHEN READY 15th Sep 2001 04:46

It is not the politics sorrounding getting rights to work in UK it is the cost and complexity that is JAR. It is great to see so many qualified Australians with proper experience who have studied for OZ ATPL'S only to have 14 more exams thrown at them and required to do 50 hours IF and flight test at very expensive rates. Not to mention a medical which costs $1000 AUS which can only be done at Gatwick Airport with a few months notice.
Now that I have that off my back good luck to everyone out there.

CockpitJunkie 16th Sep 2001 14:46

Loc-out

It is far easier for anyone to get into Australia with a hint of a qualification that it is for Australians to get into any other country. This applies to recognition of qualifications and immigration.

Maybe in the future there'll be some harmonisation. At the moment it's all one way.

Unless someones's thinking of going to NZ, then it's automatic!

High Altitude 17th Sep 2001 03:08

Out of curiosity what are the requirements for Go, Easyjet and Ryanair??? ;)

kennedy 17th Sep 2001 13:19

easyjet website has got most of the info
www.easyjet.com, also on the banner adds on the top of the pprune pages for ryanair.

Yes it is expensive and a bit time consuning to convert to a UK ATPL, I did it from an ozzie one in 98.

Tip when applying for CAA medical at Gatwick first contact your local A.M.E for your records, the pomms accept some of the results, eg. audiogram, egc, and chest xray I think, saved me bit of money.

Requirements for direct entry command at easy are 3000hr factored total 500 jet command (146's or above)
Factors are roughly .9 for jet command, .8 for jet FO, .8 for turboprop command, .7 for turboprop FO, .7/.6 for multipiston command/other .3 for single piston, can't remember the factor for helicopters.

There is a thread started in Terms and endearments called Easyjet,Good or Bad? started by oriental with more info.

hope this helps, By the way easy were looking for about 140 pilots a year for the next 3 to 4 years. ( b4 last tuesdays events, so don't know the future requirements now)
