ABC News: 'REX service goes to ground'
From ABC News:
REX service goes to ground
The new owner of Hazelton and Kendell Airlines, Regional Express, is to axe its Sydney to Port Macquarie service from the first of September, despite earlier promises to honour all Hazelton services to the Mid North Coast.
Spokesman Armon Hicks had initially said a new schedule for the Mid North Coast would be introduced from next month, and services would be increased.
He has now clarified that current services will only be maintained until September 1.
Mr Hicks said its a commercial decision.
"Only 700 people saw fit to fly on the aircraft last calendar month," he said.
"We cannot maintain uncommercial services, we will go broke."

Well you've just got to make those decisions if you want ot stay in business. If it keeps all the employees of REX in a job, then I dont see whats wrong with it. REX could continue to service the coast, keep the people happy and then go broke because it continued unprofitable routes.
If it doesnt make money then its got to go I suppose.
