Australiawide - Too Dodgy

I was concerned about this crowd some time back and their actions concern me even more now. Being a test pilot (Jones) does not necessarily equate to being a CEO. I am very concerned innocent employees will suffer at the hands (again) of power-hungry meglomaniacs. This whole Australiawide charade has smelt from Day 1. Hope I am wrong.

Australiawide deal stalls on tarmacn - ABC news
The Australiawide Airlines consortium says it is confident the sale of Hazleton and Kendall airlines will go through despite today's developments.

The Hazleton administrator has terminated the contract of sale because Australiawide failed to meet yesterday's deadline.

But Australiawide chief executive Michael Jones says a new deal has been verbally approved, which means the company will not inherit debts and liabilities worth $330 million.

"The deal was off because technically the Hazleton administrator has terminated the contract. As we currently speak we have no contract with either of the administrators, except that we have a verbal agreement with them," he said.

"We're putting a written proposal to them now and they have to accept that proposal in order for us to complete."

Earlier, Mr Jones blamed the failure on what he called "crazy" corporate legal complications.

He says he is still extremely optimistic of being able to complete the transaction if the unions and employees get behind them.

"I'm now putting it upon them - we're standing here, the money has been in the bank since the 4th of July, the administrators know that," he said.

"All the leasing companies, all the aircraft companies, the fuel companies, everybody is supporting us. What we need now is the unions to back off and support the transaction."

But the Australian Pilots Federation says the stalling is not their fault.

Spokesman Laurie Cox says Mr Jones has no right to try to blame pilots for the delay.

"It's no use Mr Jones calling my office at 11 o'clock this morning to have a dummy spit at me.

"We were quite clear on what we put on the table from day one, Mr Jones is now attempting to shift the blame [and] we won't accept that."

Earlier, Federal Transport Minister John Anderson expressed confidence the deal would be signed off on in the very near future.

"It has been protracted, it has taken far longer than what I would have liked. I'm hopeful that we will get there by the end of this month which is not far away now."

Mr Anderson's office says it is the Minister's understanding Australiawide is redrafting the contract.

Spoke to a friend in a very large financial institution last night.
This same individual has done alot of work for the sale of airlines offshore and airports around the globe.

This person says the Australia wide thing will end in tears.
When quizzed they stated that their company tried to contact the abovementioned individual just after the collapse of AN to look at acquiring the Kendell/Hazelton portion (using the SF340's not the CRJ's).
They rang on numerous occasions, sent articles by courier and registered post and in the end this person never once replied.
NOT ONCE!

Now if a large organisation was seeking to invest in the future of aviation in this country and get an airline back in the air you have to ask yourself why this person wouldnt even hear out a serious proposal.

Like they said, it will all end in tears and they may be then in a position to pick up the pieces.

Well I am in aggreance with the Hazo Adnimistrator. They have been able to achieve results from the very beginning.

The KD administrators should be held liable for their incompetent and inadequate administration. They were not even able to learn anything from the Fox/Lew debacle.

I hope someone else is able to peice together a bid before operations are terminated and we are all out of work....again.

Cool

I'm sure it's totally coincidental and hypothetical, but one would assume an appointed manager's fees would be in direct proportion to the period of time the entity was under an appointed manager.

If the manager's appointment were terminated by sale of the entity, fees would cease. Conversely, if the duration were extended into asset liquidation, fees would continue.

And on a similar vein, one would assume any buyer should have the settlement funds available in the bank..........

All purely coincidental and hypothetical, I'm sure.

Who is the new buyer? An Australian regional airline, backed by a non Australian international airline?

Red face Wow what a CEO

What a promising CEO. Struggling with "Crazy" corporate rules!, Engineers cost too much, spitting the dummy at both AFAP and ALAEA, all promises verbal nothing in writing and the sign here or else approach. What a wonderful future.
