ATTN all Aust ATPL
TODAY Has been a sad day for Australian Aviation.
The administrators for Kendell Airlines have ellected after 10 months administration to make reduntant the CRJ pilots.
.
Whilst a number of people with vested interests may agree with this proposal , the implications for the broader PILOT GROUP are immense.
This redunacy has been made in contary to seniority. and the present enterprise agreement (and without respect to pilot qualifaction, and seniority ) , a similar example would be for QF to not only retire, but make redundant ALL pilots on the B747 CLASSIC without regard to seniority, or for VB to retire and make reduntant all pilots currently flying the B737-400.(not presently endorsed on the NG )
It is in the interests of all Australian pilots that we follow the proceedings at KD/HZ , as the implications have a huge impact not only on current employees, but QF but VB employees, and our future conditions.
A precedent is being set for management to sack not only pilots for what a/c type they operate, but to weaken the pilot group wheher they be APIA , AFAP. (DIVIDE AND CONQUER)
It is time that we ensured that this profession is one that we are happy to promote but at the same time carries the rewards that are deserved.

I'm afraid your precedent is 9 years too late.
Impulse unceremoniously sacked all remaining B200 and PA 31 pilots when those aircraft types were replaced by the C99s and B1900s. These pilots were at the top of the seniority list which totaled, from memory, a good 60-70 odd pilots.
And what did the union do I hear you ask? NOTHING
Sorry to rain on your parade.
Good luck all. Barge.

George,
In the aftermath of Skywest Aviation's loss of the Coastwatch contract to NJS, Skywest Avn. management sought and obtained the agreement of the pilot group that retrenchments due to the ensuing business contraction would be at a base level first, contract level second and seniority level third.
I'm not sure what I think of that, but I can certainly see the business soundness of it, as it saved the company from much, much, retraining. Had they gone on seniority alone, it is quite possible that Skywest Avn. would have gone T.U. and not survived long enough for Paspaley to buy them.

ex SAAB pilots
Wouldn't the CRJ pilots have come off the SAAB. Maybe KD could "lend" some experienced pilots to Hazos after reading today's SMH http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/...898916277.html
Doesn't make any sense to me to get rid of experienced pilots who already have a SAAB endorsement.
