Thumbs down The 2 Marks finally figure out how to run an airline!

Just heard on the late news that AN's administrators are drawing up plans to sack some of the lames at Tulla & replace with temp staff from a personnel firm!

Pretty good huh? They almost got a full year out of that carrot!

If they'd only give me my money, then I can stop being amazed at the many ways they are spending it!

My sympathies to all at the base & I hope that you haven't missed opportunities because your Union wouldn't allow you to leave, only for this to happen!

Anyone at the base, please update us here.

Question

Buster,

What would you say if one (maybe two) of the management pilots was STILL on the payroll at the previous inflated wage?

Only time for a quick reply, I'm on my way to the base now. Can't access pprune from within. (smart filter)

The hire firm option has been around for sometime, they were just waiting for a tax ruling. (sack people Friday bring'em back Monday)

The unions were dead against this from the start, in particular the Metal heads. Scared that one day this may spread to QF.

As for the carrot, where told that the cost of wage's and overheads in the hangar were covered with the work we were doing. They are basically holding the aircraft owners to ransom, at least the ones that need checks.

I'm more concerned with the top heavy management structure at the base. Not uncommon to find a $150K managers doing clerical duties at the jet base suites.

I'll post more tonight if nothing else is forth coming.

"Not uncommon to find a $150K managers doing clerical duties at the jet base suites."

That's it boys, milk it bone dry!!

Don't worry that 16,000 other staff have received NOTHING for more than half a year.

Greedy pr!cks!

Not to mention the two AN A320 crews flying to Perth (when operating under the 2 Marks administration). The crew of the one ex Syd told the ex Mel one that he had "150 knots on the nose at F350". The ex Mel crew then requested clearance to F350 where both aircraft laboured along at a very slow ground speed and of course they used up their fuel reserves and had to divert to Kalgoorlie for fuel and then continued on to Perth.

These poor excuses for pilots just wanted to milk every cent that they could get, without thinking about the passengers or other staff whose livlihood was threatened by this obscene behaviour. Left even less money to pay out the decent employees.

Thumbs down

When is someone going to ask the Government about the estimated $750,000 per day they are collecting from the Ansett Ticket Tax?

I guess someone must be rattling the cage since Virgin recently offered to drop a whole $5.00 of the price of each sector if the TAX was removed.

Anyway who is the beneficiary of the tax (besides the government)?

Has anybody noticed how the airfares appear to be nudging upwards once more? Virgin obviously getting to grips with yield management very nicely.

I must say I have a chuckle reading complaints about Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber and their utter ineptitude, displayed almost daily, as they struggle through trying to run an airline under administration.

What amazes me is that the most vocal criticism has come from the AFAP.

Well union boys take a long hard look at yourselves. Think back to 14 Sept '01. Price Waterhouse Coopers were the original administrators and I can't help but think they would have done a damn side better job of it than the two drop kicks at the helm at present. It was the ACTU who decreed that PWC were unacceptable and that Andersons were much better for our interests.

Who has egg on their faces now.

All true Don...

I wonder where it'd be if PWC had their way?

If the little bird wispering in my ear was correct, about 10,000 of the 16,000 Ansett group previously employed and now languishing on the dole que would still be employed doing what they do best. Operating an airline.

Rumour has it that a buyer had thrown their cards on the PWC table within days of the intial collapse (perhaps they were expecting it, who wasn't) and were prepared to restart the airline using those 10,000 employed under contract. Of course the ACTU wouldn't wear this as it would blow a hole in their control of the Australian airline industry and have implications for future enterprise bargaining at another very large Australian airline.

Once again the union (who would rather see their paid up members on the dole than lose their power) put their own interests first.

If anyone presently employed in the motor vehicle industry reads this, think about what your union instigated rolling stopages of the motor vehicle industry are going to ultimately do to the viability of your employer. Is your greed worth risking your job over? Its only a matter of time before the industry caves in on itself. One things for certain, the union puppeteers wont be lining up with you at the soup kitchen!
