Qantaslink out of Taree.
Schedule changes just started coming through tonight. QFlink appears to be pulling up stakes in TRO and are being replaced by Aeroduck under a new airline designator code of OT.
Was this all very quiet or haven't I been paying attention??
Thanks also for the flyby over DPO City Centre at an unspecified altitude by a QF link DH8. It was a stunner!!!
Best all

Hope they are OK too Hugh. Been through that mill 3 times now and it is no fun.
One must ask where the aeroplanes and crews will be deployed.
Fly by was a beaut Hugh - just wish some b@stard had warned me so I could have enjoyed it properly.
The P & Ws sounded nearly as good as a pair of Darts or Speys.

Definitely SPECI.
Back on thread, it is a sod from our point of view as we fly professional surfers out of TRO, and the guys and girls do a great job getting their board coffins on the DH8, but the Metros will be a different story.
Any idea where the have sourced the SWMs from? Non required KD equipment maybe?

Good God!
We are turning into the South-West Pacifics Sewth Efrica!!
The 748 is a venerable and reliable beast - BUT!!!!
There seems to be a 2 tier system creeping in to Australian Aviation.
From what I am told the KD fleet has also deteriorated badly through neglect and lack of maintainence by the admin.
I assume this is the parked units and not the regularly used aeroplanes.
Look for the introduction of the Comet 4 at an airport near you!

Aviation certainly is an amazing industry, you can see especially why regional centres have reason to be annoyed, 10-15 years ago towns that are lucky to get a Metro or Saab used to have regular F28s backed up by F27s/F50s. Impulse operated the best passenger 19 seater in the 1900 yet the almighty dollar wins again and the travelling public gets thrown the scraps that even Mexico don't need anymore....perhaps we'll see the F27 back yet EWL

Yes puff.
Let's dust off EWV and TQS and go for it.
The MEL NTL sector with Sunstate is an interesting one - 125 mins in a Dash must be hard on the bum.

Mexican Metro 23's?????
If these are the same aircraft I know of, they have been for sale for approx 8 years, as that is how long ago I looked at them.....If they are indeed the same machines, then I can't see them flying in the very near future as they needed a bucket load of maintenance then, and I don't believe anything would have improved in the mean time.
Steve, tell me it isn't so

Syd-Beo is still being served with now OT Twotters and Syd-Ntl seems destined for the Dash.
Extremely predatory pricing has emerged on the NTL route with KISOX one way fares only offered on some flights and the class completely missing on others.
Sunstate is particularly at fault here with some flights not even carrying a K class bucket on MEL NTL, even when the deeper discount "mums and dads" fares that require a Saturday night away are wide open.
The poor old businessman cops it in the neck here.
Just hope this isnt the future plan for all of regional Australia.
Best all.

Don't think Belmont would be the most suitable strip for a DASH. The last time I flew into there the sealed portion of the strip was down the centreline and just a bit wider than the wheel base of the twotter. Looking @ the ERSA it's only 672 mtrs long and still depicts that narrow sealed strip down the centre.
Who knows?? Time will tell.

Australia constantly amazes me, we keep buying everyone elses junk but still can't make a go of it.
Even Vietnam, Burma and Mauritius buy new ATR's and make a profit.
If you can't make profit out of a 1900 you should give the game away.
I don't think I'll be moving back to Oz any time soon.

Byjingo, if ATRs, 1900s etc worked on the proposed routes then they'd be there! Take a look at the pax numbers travelling in regional oz, mostly they don't sustain larger/new aircraft. Where they do there is a Dash or a SAAB.
The resurgence of the Metro over other types in regional oz is due the wider decline of the rural sector and other factors well beyond aviation. There isn't the population (or the govt subsidies) to sustain 36+ seaters.
I would change your quote slightly, if you can't make a profit out of 1900s you should give the 1900s away, which is precisely what Impulse and Qlink have done!

BB, the only reason Qlink will no longer be operating 1900 is that they are not interested in that market(19 seat, no hostie). Blaming it on economics just sounds better for pr. Interesting to note when airlink started into GLI, IVL they dropped the 5 am departure and 10 pm arrival.

Qantaslink can make any operation drop dollars if they try hard enough, Just look at all the schedules they had the 1900 doing at the end at the new ones that Airlink/******/Sunshine Express/ Horizon will be implementing

When are the B1900Ds finally gone??? It's July 5 and SYD-NTL schedules are still loaded in the system as B1900Ds. When is the new schedule for this route announced and when does it start?
It's starting to p*** me off as I will be flying the route soonish and need to sort out some meetings in NTL. Doesn't help if you don't know what time the plane will land and then leave again!
