Ansett Sim - Melb

Just wondering whether anyone knows whether the Sims down in Tullamarine are still there ? or have been sold ?

I remember a few years ago non-ansett pilots could use the sim for a fee.

Does anyone have any contacts re: above ?

Ansett sims still going on a commercial basis. For example you can hire the B737 sim for around $410 per hour on fixed base. Add another $200 or thereabouts if you want to operate it on full flight. Extra for an instructor but I don't know the going rate.
Email me at Pprune for further details re sim instructor info.
Don't know about the other sims there. The 737 is fairly busy but usually available no problem after 2300.

The Ansett 737 sim in MEL is a bucket of bolts. Still has Roman numerals on the flight deck. It is however a very good training tool. Sounds like a contradiction but I am too tired to explain. Good luck.

fut_airplt: Telephone Jenny Sheridan, 9339-5902, she'll have all the details you require. Yes, they are still there, all seven, but usage has dropped dramatically. I did hear that QF and DJ are major users of the B737, but I believe there is some availabliity still. Don't know about any progress re sale of Sim Centre or individaul sims, sorry!

Shakespeare: "Too tired to explain"? Too tired to bloody think is more like the truth! I'd be interested in the reasons for your antipathy towards the sim, or is it a case of "bad workmen blaming their tools"?

Kind regards,

TheNightOwl.

A couple of days before AirNZ gave AN the punt, they took $1M worth of sim equipment and loaded it on a Cargo Plane headed for Auckland. The vile, ruthless, NZ scum!
