Lear Jet or Citation
If money wasn't the problem, which small jet would you buy and why. If you could also compare range, payload and operating costs, etc.
Many thanks in advance.

hmmmmm....money no object.....
Space Shuttle would be my choice....
pros: speed, payload, "aerobatic", pose value, little rwy on departure!...and (as Tim the Toolman says) MORE POWER!
cons: maintenance (fairly complex one would think), flexibility (no much use for that short hop), support network (you can't just nip out on your own for a quick blatt)....and rwy on arrival!!!

BIK me old
and this particular model should only be attempted by the last of the hard bitten thrill seekers.
Falcon 10 gets my money in that size aircraft, but for all round do anything, go anywhere you can get a C400 series the C500 is the go.
whilst the Lear is like a frilly red G-string (sexy and exciting, but not very practical).

BIK I've heard that half the grandmothers in OZ are after your guts for that analogy, the other half are buying frilly red G-strings!
Whichever gets to you first, its not going to be pretty!!!!

The difference between Lears/Citations and Falcons is that the former are high performance light aircraft...the Falcons, even the baby 10, are small airliners systems wise...and I mean that in the most positive way, like heated windscreens that don't fog up terribly on descent.
The Falcons handle beautifully, without being challeging...they climb like the fighters they very nearly are and cruise fast, 450+Kts.
The Lear 23/25 were a blown up cabin on a T33 wing...and not terribly blown up either.
The only 500 series Citation I have flown is the 560...and that after I nearly break myself in half to get into the seat...same with the LR35...the little DA10 goes faster than both climbs as high as the Lear and has a cockpit even a 6'2" 97kg dude like me can get into and out of without permanent injury...for about 1/3rd of the price of a LR35/C560.
The Falcons look so totally cool too
Chuck.

I'll deny I ever said this but the 23/4 IS a way cool looking ship, dunno how you'll get on with Chapter 3 noise though.
And the L23 was only FAR23 I think?. Go's like a FAR 25 ship but the systems and other redundancies aren't.
Good luck and stay fast.

Many thanks for the replies.
I'm not really into frilly red knickers but I'll think about it.
Can they all have aero med doors fitted? Also it will have to meet the new RVSM requirements which can be both costly and difficult to fit on some older aircraft.
The Falcon sounds good but possibly bigger than we will need.

Nigel,
Provide a complete list of what you actually need and I'm sure you'll get a professional answer. You threw out a hypothetical and very open-ended question that related to an either/or arrangement. You start on aero-med operations and you have to look at cabin size, passenger numbers, equipment configuration and a whole slew of different requirements. Both the Lear and the Cessna maybe unrealistic for meeting your needs.

Since when was buying ANY aeroplane a rational, logical idea. A rational use of the money would be to by an investment property or 5 and watch your wealth grow. We buy an aeroplane cause we WANT it. I'll take the red g string one over the sensible one any time..........sort of like we choose our girlfriends.
For my money, try the SJ30. 450kt TAS designed from the outset for Single pilot. 2500nm range , modern fuel efficient engines and Brand New.
