Aviator in the know:

What is wrong is Cooma for Saab 340 ops ?, I went there numerous times around 30 years ago in the F27-200. The F27-500 also operated there for years and from memory the F28-1000 operated OOM-BNE nonstop.

Horizon's first Metro 23 was ferried into Australia via Coffs Harbour by DBF Aviation Services.

It's presently painted all-over white and to the best of my knowledge, has not been allocated an oz rego.

I would love to see a Metro get out of Cooma in summer or IMC and satisfy 20.7.1B obstacle requirements to LSA / MSA.

Lazarus,

Why should a Metro have insurmountable difficulties with Cooma .. ?

The dog whistle (F27) was not much of a rocket ship but did stirling service there in years gone by .. as B772 and I can well recall from another life .. mind you I can recall one approach where, when we checked in with the FS guy after landing for changes, he told us that he wasn't quite sure which runway we were aiming for .... the crosswind was something fearsome .... I'm sure we were at or below dear old Jack's 22 kt limit .... from time to time ... on that occasion I was with a lovely gentleman of German extraction (now recently retired) who chuckled and chortled to himself the whole time we were bouncing along down final .....
