Nice 24 ship
Just witnessed a very nice 24 ship of PC9's westbound over the Perth northern burbs. (Stbd outboard elevator was a bit slack though!)
But where were you going guys? You disappeared over the western horizon without a hint of a turn. Must be the Cape Town airshow.
Lovely to see fellas, ta very much. Stirred unhealthy thoughts in a rapidly ageing airline pilot.

It's usually a graduation parade at Pearce, I saw them northbound over South Perth.
The look like they are going straight, because it takes a long time to turn a 24 ship formation of brand new pilots!

I was told that this was something of a special occasion - the formation was so big because it was a combo of a graduating course and the Roullettes who are in town.
Checkboard, luckily the new pilots sit in the back (where its more scary because you see more!)
The trash-haulers and fishheads love these things cause it makes them feel like real pilots!!

Saw them over Ellenbrook this arvo on their RTB with the Roullettes joining up behind them and the solo guy behind them for the circuit into Pearce.
Looked and sounded very very smart, had a think for a moment how the ATCers were going to land them.
Thanks boys 'n girls, I was standing talking with an ex WW11 Lancaster pilot and he was quite overcome, as he hadn't seen that many aircraft in the same piece of sky for some time.

Dear frtplt,
Trashies and fishheads will do these things as those poor little nucks will be busy telling waries about that day they got to fly out of the circuit!
Now shouldn't you double away and start amending the capt and FOs docs or whatever else a second officer is suppose to do, and leave this talk of flying to the professionals!
No wonder they make you guys fly by yourself all the time!
Don

Don, thanks for the bite! Someone mentioned leaving the RAAF for lifestyle; I have left home for work 3 days in the last 5 weeks! Not sure about the amending but have a fair bit of time for my own! (and painting, and gardening, and golf etc)
Gaunty, the standard Initial and Pitch works fine, this is the real reason it is done. This one would likely have a fairly long run in though!
I have photos from mine in the Machi days, with the smoke in the background from the one that crashed after takeoff on the morning of the flight. Still amazed it went ahead as the cause of the crash was then unknown (other than the engine stopped!)
