If anyone has had similar problems........please let me know as I would like to know where I stand!!

WHY???? Can't they just let you print a copy of exam like the old days then give you an extra 5 mins to transfer answers to answer sheet???

OR

Print out a copy of answers sheet with only question numbers and answers on it????????

OR

Copy the exact system as used in the USA (which has been tried and proven for years
)
BOTH these ideas would work................

I guess thats not Australian or Kiwi to come up with a real good system that works with no flaws!!!..or should I say that the typical thinking of a public servant is that of a 5 year old!!!

Cheers

Angry

I have read on this forum a few people have finished the exam to only lose it.

Do a search, I think the poster was tealady and it is discussed in there.

If they can't find it complain LOUDLY.

My understanding is that when we do the PPL Cyberexams and we fall off the net while you do the exam, it keeps it. If we fall off the net while we are sending the answers, you lose it.
My commiserations.
I hope they find it.

cyberexams

PPL cyberexams is now supposed to have a recovery system built in so that whichever is the interruption, the exam can be recovered. The system went offline for a couple of days so that a recovery system could be installed. One would have thought that a similar system would have been installed for the "professional" exams! Complain long and loud to Rod Carter at cyberexams on 131757 - the system won't change if pprune is the only place you voice your complaint! P.S. My student had to re sit his exam - just didn't have to pay the CASA fee. If it was ASL's server that went offline, don't let them force you to pay either their or CASA's fee!
Let's know how you go. Kind Regards, tealady

Hey Baron Captain,

A mate of mine sat the IREX on the same day as me. After I finished my exam, submitted, no problem. However he was checking his exam over before submitting it when the power went out.

After a quick call to CASA the supervisor told him the exam was lost, and he would have to resit it. He would have to resit a different exam, and it couldn't happen till next week. But they did let him resit if for free!!!

Needless to say, he wasn't too happy.

Is it just me or do others think this is bullsh*t?

You would not go out anywhere and pay $550 (approx cost of CPL exam) for a product which is dodgy, so why should you sit an exam which has a high chance of not even getting marked?

Does anyone have email addresses of who to complain to? Preferably not ASL but whoever was responsible for changing the format?

Thanks

Jimmy Pop,

I'll bet your mate was ready to let ASL have it that day. I can't believe they don't have back up power for those exams.
They should have a system that down loads the exam onto the hard drive so at least theres a hard copy of the exam on the pc.

At least ASL were kind enough not to charge your mate for another exam and quickly and efficiently reschedule him for another sitting!

That will teach him for checking his answers through before submitting. What a fool!

WELL WELL WELL

The story goes,
"We are really really sorry!!!, We can't give you a pass, so all we can do for you is let you RE-SIT the exam again!!!"

To which I said OK well if thats all I can do then I want to sit it a week from when it happened, and can you promise me that it won't happen again???

ASL Said
" NO, Sorry can't promise that!!!! I'm afraid" "We'll just hope for the best and that it should be ok next time, And that the sysytem has a inbuilt FAILSAFE Programme that didn't work that normally does.

"WE are SORRY!, and that it doesn't show a good review of our services so early since our introduction to ATPL Cyber Exams"

So there it is folks!!!!!!....thats where we stand!!!!!!....In the dog ****!!, Out in the shed with the roosters!!.....Absolute sweet **** All we can do about it!!!!!!...CASA & ASL seem to be able to get away with being real inefficient and still charge money for it!!!!

Cheers!!!!

From a pissed off pilot who is still studying YET AGAIN!!!

In my travels on the phone I have also discovered a DARK & STORMY past history of CASA stuff ups when it comes to exams..

Apparently a few years ago a few students were sitting their flight planning Helicopters and the work booklet on the S76 hadn't arrived with the exams...They were told that would have to come back in a few days when the rest of the paperwork arrived..
They replied with: You can get stuffed as we turned up on time! You(CASA) are in the wrong and we will take you to court if necessary....Apparently CASA awarded them a Minimum PASS result.

So just how many times has this type of thing happened and can we really be awarded a PASS?????????????????

Cheers

Wink

If you have a bad or unfair experience with ASL send a letter to the address below.

The person to cotact at ASL is on their website with an email address or if you like send a written letter.

I beleive that with the hi tech computer systems we have today, we should not have to resit exams due to sytem drop outs. Once is enough!
