Adventure Flights ?!?!?!?!
It seems to increase in number,,,this adventre flights bussiness with those ex-military jets and the rest, which I'm sure are not on a charter category.
Does anyone know, under which category these guys operate - Charter / Aerial work......Or do they have an AOC to start with ??.....Do they operate under someting to do with the "War Bird Association " ?
Any info would be much appreciated
Cheero

I have no idea but.........
Australian P51 Mustangs are/were a normal category aircraft when they operated air charter in the 1950's and 60's (commercial target towing.)
I once heard something about war birds being able to carry paying passengers provided they depart from and arrive back at the same airfield. Sounds ludicrous.........

These "combat" style flights are done under the Limited Category of CASA's rules, which allows pax carrying operations subject to the signing of risk statements. Pax have to sign a document which says they acknowledge the aircraft is not subject to normal civilian standards of maintenance and operations.
On this basis the operators seem to be able to do what they like. There are classes within the Limited Category which rate the operations in terms of increasing risk. Levels two and three are not supposed to operate over built up areas but anyone familiar with the airports they use will tell you they do. Try Camden and Bankstown for a start.
At Camden two operators seem to have CASA permission to operate in any way they please - appears a big black hole in the regs to me.
Another CASA stuff up waiting to happen....
