QF Hold File & Notice RQD

Plenty of mates on the QF merry-go-around. Curious how long you have been waiting or how much notice they gave you of a start date ?

It doesn't matter what your length of notice nor your length of time on the hold file has been you just have to hurry up and wait. I Do understand if you are baking cakes at the moment you stand a better chance of being called up to start tomorrow or perhaps sometime in early summer ( )

Perhaps some of the pilots on the May course could respond. Are there any direct entry pilots on this course or are they all cadets? What about the June course?

There were 2 DE on the May course - Ex Ansett. June course will probably have a few more DE, and then no more cadets for a while.

Have heard most notice QF give of a start date is 4 weeks. Can be a real challenge for some I hear.

I know of a few people given only 7 days, or thats it back to the bottom of the pile.

I've heard of night before but I think they aim for at least 7 days... it will probably depend on your situation (and their requirements). Cadets can get hardly any notice, because they've already 'committed' somewhat...

Does anyone have any idea how many are in the active consideration/hold file? What seems to be the normal waiting period? Does it still work on best score first principle?

For those concerned about the panic of a last-minute call up, they do at least pay for your airfare to Sydney in that case.

Last course was twelve, 10 cadets and 2 ex-AN 400 SOs. I can't remember whether it was 8/4 on the 400/767 or 6/6. Not many have been going on the 767 lately, but these 767 slots were added at the last minute because of the new MEL/NRT services.

For those of you living for the phone call, the next courses will probably feature a larger GA component.

There is no "hush hush".

Let's hope they also pay for you when they get you to fly in to renew that medical over and over again

Thumbs down

Bargearse

You would have to be asking yourself why bother if you have been doing the medical over and over and over again!!! If they are that disorganized can you imagine what they are like to work for??? The big Q might be the Great big Australian Airline but certianly not the best airline in Oz to work for by any means. Have quite a few unsatisfied mate there as you probably have, Good Luck. Boy!
