CPL theory @ home

Vaguely remember this being discussed before on pprune but I can't seem to find it now.

Does anyone have any recommendations for CPL theory home study courses or materials?

Buy the Trevor Thom books and read em. CPL theory is pretty easy if I remember correctly. I looked at the books the night before the exam

logie_bear,

Strongly recommend the Advanced Flight Theory system for home study. Their latest version includes all the good guff on Cyberexams and includes several trial examinations using the exact cyberexam format. Excellent value.
Would recommend you take Beavan666's advice very lightheartedly - it is not THAT easy and I very much doubt his sincerity!
AFT can be contacted on 1800 000 767 or [email protected]

Good luck!

Thanks Aerowasp, much appreciated mate. Have already made contact with AFT and it looks promising. Thanks again.

Bevan666, the night before the exam? A 'natural' pilot huh?

Anyone had any experience with the Airs Technologies CDROM's out of curiosity?

Give the Dyson Holland text books a miss - I found them very confusing and quite useless as a learning aid. Possibly they're more useful as a reference once you already understand the topics. With the Cyberexam format, your best bet is to knock them over one or two at a time.

Hi Mate, I have just finished the Cyber Exams and i would throughly recommend the NEW Bob Tait Series of Books. They have just been released and are specific for the Cyber exams. I also used the Trevor Thom Books, which are quite helpful.

Good Luck... Btw i found doing one at a time much more effective.

I'd recommend Gavin Secombe....phone 1800 636 830 or (047)54 4461. Very easy to understand.
Good luck.

Congratulations to Bevan666. If it's true, you're obviously a much higher intellect compared to the rest of us mortals.

Seems to be a sad lack of humour in here!

Cool Icarus2001

Very good reason for the lack of humour.......the question was about a very serious issue which required some genuine responses. Well done to all for keeping the thread positive, informative and in-step with the initial information sought.
Logie_Bear; no matter what you eventually decide, good luck and have fun doing it! I personally support the AFT option - worked very well for me and managed to pass FIRST GO (BCE*).

Yeah just thought i'd add that i have just completed the "new" CPL cyberexams and they are bloody hard!

Human Performance , Aircraft Systems and Aircraft performance sort the men out from the boys!!!

Happy to pass, as many have not been so fortunate as i.

cheers;

Sheehanadam

I have to start doing the cyber exams later this year. I have done the theory via Sydney Tafe and home study, Trevor Thom books.

What are the easiest and the hardest subjects in the exam? I am going to start them after July one or two subjects every couple months, until completed.

Thanks

Outback Pilot,

Just about to ask the same question so I'd be interested to hear any opinions as well.

Trevor Thom and heaps of practice exams worked for me. But i have no idea what it is like now with cyberexams, would like to hear people's experiences. I used ATC practice exams, found Dyson-Hollands to be unlike the actual exams, but i guess now its cyberexams somebody has probably come up with practice cyberexams.

Talking

I used the Trevor Thom Kit and the Dyson-Holland exams.

Just go through the books and any sections you have problems with get a tutor to help you. Your Flying School should be able to recommend someone who knows what he's talking about.

Also talk to people who have done the exams, so you know what to expect.

Good Luck with the Exams.
