Question Australian airlines

Anybody heard any stories that Australian airlines might be recruiting externally afterall? Just heard a whisper that this might be true. If so are there any contact details? Much appreciated.

Yep, heard the same matey.

The rumourmill suggests contract pilots on rolling/renewable fixed term contracts of 3 yrs. Pilots will be employed into rank with no guarantee of promotion (this does not mean it will not happen, just no promises). Look for a company with a strong web-based recruitment system already in place to start looking for applicants in the near future.

Geez the boys get to choose between DJ and Ozair. Either way they will be back on the 767 real soon.

All sounds great!.

Now what future for a significant % of QF staff already employed,in alot of differing departments, doing the acrobatics and aerobatics under this particular corner of the big red tent with the current schedule. What happens to these people?

I can't see Mr Ashton hanging on to all relatives after the cheaper show pitches their tent, not across the road, but in the same terminal.

Union trouble ahead for the clown unions. No more free red noses!
But then again-
Redundancy payouts-yes,there is a God!

Euro pacific has had those adds up for eons so it is hardly 'new' news.

We shall see but I'll be surprised if outsiders get first look in unless they don't get enough from inside. Further, from the discussion I've had, don't think they will have any problems getting them from inside.

Of course, that may leave us short in mainline for a bit!?!?

Keg,
Still love that name.
There would be plenty of punters in GA dieing to get their hands, and spanners,on a 767.Don't discount that. There are numbers.
Guys's that would roster themselves to do the maximum hours and "I hear there's a brake change thurday night,i'm asking if I can get on it".
These are simlar circumstances to what happened to the QF traffic officers in drw, cns, tsv and bne (that I know of)taking a paycut, getting rid of deadwood etc, basicially turning on each other, to bid against an outside contractor.Work out a cheaper way or you're gone. But they did it themselves, with Qf supervised help!!!Was there an outside contractor who could do things more efficiently in the first place?????
I would assume QF will give all relevant current staff involved in the current QF schedule, but soon to become TN schedule, the same BS to reduce costs.
Very smart anti unionism in my book.Divide and rule!
Time will tell.
heard of awops?

i agree Mainwheel. It is high stakes poker and QF holding a pretty good hand. The unions can try the bluff with a pair of twos but it is high stakes stuff.

Personally, I think the deal we got was pretty good. It'll be interesting to see how it goes in the final wash up?

What is the pay and conditions for the supposed 'outsiders'. With only a month or so until selection supposedly starts, surely you know what you are going for?

Interesting stuff! I would like to know what the package will be for outsiders if they do not get enough from inside.
