What idea's would you like to see developed for Logbook2002

Have been having a few idea's as to were to develop the software further,

Interested to hear what people thought on the following, and whether you would like to see the feature implemented

PDA Link - Ability to fill out the data on a wince capable pda, then import the data back into the logbook

Company Data Extractor - Gets the info required from a collection of logbooks for company use

CV-updater - links to word, automaticy updating a resume, keeping resume uptodate, everytime they are printed, with a prospective employer database

Ability to automaticly update a cv based with a cv company, with excel extensions for the web, ie something like staffcv

P-Air. Think my son mentioned your log book needs extra colums for flying instruction? You have his email details?

Torres - Yep, Have incorporated 3 additional "spec" columns just like he asked. Can be used for instruction/sky jumping, etc

Also included s/e icus and copilot , just like others requested too.

Would you mind forwarding his email, so that i could send him a copy (even sending him the url for the file would do the trick)

A column in the Recency table for GPS/NPA. A small change that would help some pilots keep track of it all.

..... The ability to enter data out of 'date' order and have it automatically sorted into chronological order and paginated correctly .....

Oh GEEEZZZ, I'll have to think about that one,

Shall see what I can come up with,

good suggestion by the way, i think i could use that.

Do you want to be able to sort the data on individual pages into order, or the entire logbook?? -

reading your post again, i guess the entire logbook

The ideal computerised logbook/flight & duty would automaticly:
1) take diary out of top pocket,
2) take shoes off feet,
3) sit pilot on comfy chair in front of entertainment,
4) place cushion under feet,
5) supply icy cold beer or other drink,
6) transpose all data from diary into log book and correct any errors,
7) place latest F&D sheet on Chief Pilot's desk, and
8) wake pilot for dinner.

P-air, I don't mind if some of these thigs are not exactly in the order I propose but if you can do it, you'll make a million.

BTW, I already have one of these but she's not that reliable!

Hi P-air,

You have three specialist columns. How about 5 or 6… or even more? The additional columns aren't a problem to those that don't need them but a godsend for those that do. Anybody who has ever done a CFI's job needs to tally up Multi, Instructor and Instrument Instruction as well as a total of your Commercial flying. Always nice to have the info readily available.

It is also nice to know the amount of formation, aerobatic, ab-initio, elementary, cross-country and commercial instruction you have done as well. Tallying up Multi Crew command and Turbine FO/Command time and specific aircraft time would also comes in handy. As you can probably tell the ability to 'add' additional columns would be very useful indeed!

My logbook carries with it three specialist columns but I have divided all of those columns into 2 so as to make 6 columns and it looks very cluttered and messy.

Come to think of it, it would be nice to also have something that would distinguish between fixed wing and rotary flight time (and would print combined or separate summaries when required).

May I suggest the only means of accomplishing such a task is with something like Access as a back end and a VB6 interface (or .NET) as a front end. A database is far more powerful than a spreadsheet and allows you to easily accomplish the above-mentioned tasks. You could virtually run unlimited queries if you collected all the right information - possibly activating such functions only if needed.

You got me thinking P-air. Sorry about what could be considered 'very timely' suggestions I have a friend that will contact you offline.

Good luck and thanks for the effort!

Thanks Turbine,

Yes indeed, I have thought about doing just as you said,
Had the idea to do it just prior to Updating 2002

Will begin work on a front end written in vb or delphi (still undecided), with an access database, or .net (you are right, means you can do a whole lot more with the data, and more flexible not to mention a heck of alot simpler with queries.)

Cheers - Think I may been contacted - neo
