New B717s
Looks like first two new aircraft begin service on May 16 and 23 respectively, operating the SYD-OOL and HBA-OOL sectors. Does anyone have any idea when the next four arrive, as well as the configuration, as I thought they were being delivered with J and Y class, but I have not seen any availability for J class on any B717 sector.

Arrival Dates for The B717's are
VQI - 30th April
VQJ - 7th May
VQK - 14th May
VQF - 21st May
VQH - 28th May
VQG - 4th June
These dates however are arrival dates in the country.
The aircraft have to be painted in Richmond before entering
RPT service. it takes 3-5 days to paint usually, however these machines are already stripped of paint so it maybe shorter.
Hope this answers your question.

BTW,
The aircraft are configured
12J, 90Y
They are also the HGW versions which means they have a higher landing and BRW.
To give you some idea the original impulse LW was 46,266kg these were raised by QANTAS to 47,174kg.
The new birds are going to dump it on at up to 50.5 tonne.

So, they will have a business class and therefore be flying high yeild Pax around. They will have a big white rat on the tail. Their MLW is just 1.2 tonnes less than a 737-300.
Makes you wonder why the crew get paid so much less than their QF counterparts?

Hello boyzinfront! I went for an interview with Impulse recently and was wondering how many c.c. will be hired within June and how many are already on course. Since you guys seem to know quite a lot about what's happening, I was wondering if anyone would take the time to answer... Cheers!

I have been told there are 2 courses of 6 pilots over there at the moment and there are courses leaving- 7 May ( 8 pilots), 15 May (6) and 2 courses every month until at least July.
Float Jockey can't help on the cabin crew requirement but there are twice as many cabin crew to tech crew on the717so you might be able to do the math

Was told today that although there will be J class seats it will be all Y service until FAs are trained in the J product.... They also haven't totally decided all aspects of the 717 J product either. So for a time the seats will just be bigger Y seats - hence no J class availablility on CRS.

Any ideas on final number of B717 services from SYD-OOL? With only four more aircraft to come, and only SYD-PPP, SYD-ROK, SYD-MKY, ADL-OOL and MEL-MCY to be added, there still seems to be extra capacity. I am guessing that there needs to be at least one more SYD-OOL daily, in order for the plane to operate the OOL-ADL service. And this is not considering the rumoured extra 10 B717s after July.

The four more aircraft will do the following
2 will do the SYD-Qld flights. Most of these flights will be on a 3x or 4x a week rotation, not daily.
One more aircraft will do SYD-OOL-ADL-OOL-SYD daily
The last aircraft is a spare.

Reported in the SMH yesterday by Geoffrey Thomas.
Qf is planning to lease another 10 B717 for its Qantaslink subsidiary. Also mentions that these aircraft will be used to open up new routes.
Does any one have any further info on this ??
Which subsidary will recieve them ??
