Why would Virgin buy or lease A320's?
Yesterday Sir Richard said the Virgin expansion would involve buying or leasing up to 40 Boeing 737s or Airbus 320s.
Why would Virgin use A320’s? I thought they liked the idea of a single Boeing fleet to keep things lean. The only reason I can think of is that maybe Virgin have taken most of the 737 guys from ANSETT and are looking for more pilots who are already both endorsed and experienced? If they purchased A320’s they will have a whole bunch of already endorsed experienced ANSETT A320 drivers whom they can slot straight in with a minimum of fuss to further expand Virgin in the least possible time. Wouldn’t be unlike Branson to make circumstances work for him…………..

They are saying that do make Airbus and Boeing bid against each other, you saw how cheap Qantas got their 737's.
Also the most successful lost cost airlines like Ryanair and Southwest use 737's exclusively.
I can't actually figure the reason for that out, I thought the Deathstars were more economical to operate?
