Having been there a couple of times in the last week - yes, Perth taxiways are a bit of a shambles for a 747.
To get to the threshold of Runway 03 from the domestic terminal, yesterday, we had to taxi north on B, then backtrack on the main runway to K, turn off at K onto the parallel and then taxi to the holding point. A really scenic departure.
So I imagine the most likely scenario for this incident was that somebody missed a turnoff onto a sufficiently strengthened taxiway and had to be towed. I can certainly understand it given the taxiway limitations for a 747 at Perth. Accidental certainly - but not an "accident".

Geez, we got some trumfed up, high and mighty QF queenies on today!, just like the Aussie Airlines thread, they don't know the facts, they've already shot the messenger, and they're, wan king over a set of Jepps, while surfing the net!. I agree with Chelsea's dad, give em all the golf membership before it's too late!.

Hi Guys,
OK, the 747 landed RWY 03, turned left into 'W' (old RWY 11/29) and slightly overshot the turn into 'B'. Looked from Tower that could do a hard turn into 'B', but tower is 1.5Kms away, and Captain cant see nose wheel position, so probably decided better to tow it out than risk dropping nosewheel into dirt.
Acft was shut down, a tug came out, and pushed back then towed the aircraft onto its bay.
All done.

This has happened with a British Airways 747 when they used to fly to Perth.
Not sure which taxi way it was on but. But I remember they got 'bogged' and decided to leave the passengers onboard - with no meals - I think it lasted hours then eventally they all had to just get off. It wasnt an accident or an incident but a disaster for BA.
Maybe someone else knows more about that one?

I consider it a safety negative if we're all out there knowing that even if we make a CONSERVATIVE, PROFESSIONAL decision to AVOID an incident, we're going to end up on an international web-site exposed to scrutiny and ridicule. Clean up your act Luna, I know the "R" stands for "Rumour", but the "P" stands for "PROFESSIONAL"

Looney Landing,
OK, since you have deviated off track and resorted to personal attacks.
I believe a capital is always used at the start of a sentence.
Your spelling might just scrape through but your grammar leaves a lot to be desired.

I'll make a pact - I'll become a true profechannel if you clean up your spelling act. you surely couldn't be that retarded!!

Shame you have to rely on software...
As for my side of the bargain "I promise never to call a Qantas accident an incident... I mean a Qantas incident an accident ever again - even if it is ... I mean isn't.

Don't "Rely" on software old boy. When the SGs fail I do a pretty reasnoble approach on the standbys. But it does make life easier!!
