Irish Concords

Giday shags,

Three operators of Islanders in Fiji Bana Republic

Sunflower Airlines - Nadi Fiji

Air Fiji - Suva Fiji

Air Wakaya - Suva Fiji

Sunflower and Air fiji have the worst Islanders that I have ever seen - they are heaps of junk. Airwakaya have a nice new 92 model one with all the bells and wistles leather seats and weather radar.

Very hard to get work there especially since the May 2000 coup - locals pilots will sell their own mothers to get on an islander and bulid command time so they can go accross to Air Pacific - but in saying all that give it a try because as they say you could be in the right place at the right time.

Cheers - Bengwa

Not quite Fiji but interesting story none the less.....

I heard recently that a BN2 operating in Vanuatu had a 'catastrophic' engine failure that resulted in half an engine (prop and first 1 or 2 rows of cylinders) separating from the remaining engine and becoming subject to the laws of gravity and centrifical forces !.

The fun bit though was that one of thr crew (I believe that there were two up front) wore an alternator in the back of the head at high speed when it came through the side window along with a few other accessories causing him to be hurt quite badly.

Lucky there was another driver on board by the sound of it !

I know of a couple of guys who have been to Fiji in the last few months and are now home (Both had time on BN-2's). No work for expats. As said previous there are a number of locals out of work that are given preference.

But if you don't try you'll never know.........

Remember about being in the right place at the right time !!!!!!!!

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info guy's,
I was actually looking for engineering work out that way.
Heard things were a bit bleak - but like you say you've gotta be innit to winnit.
Cheers Saab.
